Manual steering rack?

I am thinking about putting a manual steering rack on my 96 GT, but I don't know what all I would have to do to make it work. Has anyone ever done this? Thanks.

dont know if you could do that,since our cars have the hydroboost system.
would you somehow retain the pwr steering pump?

The only point is to shed weight from the front end, which is maybe 5 lbs? Unless you're trying to completely strip the car I wouldn't bother.

Really not worth it. You would still have to keep the hydroboost unit and the power steering pump, unless you're going to convert to a brake boost for the brakes as well.
