Hey guys what would I have to do to my car in order to run with an STI, from a roll not necessarily from a dig because if its a good driver they have you every time just about. I have Borla Stinger axlebacks on my 07 GT right now and my next mod I believe is the SCT Xcal 2 w/ C&L intake. Has anyone had any luck against stock STI's and with what mods?

I ran a stock STI ( he had a bov, which I hear hurts those cars if on a stock turbo) after I did my cai/tune and it was from a roll (and we ran 4 times) he had nothing for me. I would pull him by about 1/2 a car lenth everytime.

From a roll you will be fine against an unmodded one. If he has bolt-ons (intake, tune, exhaust) it adds around 30hp to that car and it will get hairy.

Now if you race like men, he'll get you off the line with his mighty AWDness.

Ok well I don't mind racing like men but frankly to overcome his AWD and catch him while I am practically stock is near impossible. So you think with the intake and tune I would be pretty good? He supposedly ran 12.9 so I doubt even with an intake and tune thats possible?

12.9? Hmmm......that's gonna be close...real close. Really you'd need some 4.10s out back too. Really becoming a driver's race.

Here is the thing though he told me on the phone he was stock, pictures of his car indicate otherwise. He at least has a catback exhaust system. Those things don't run 12.9 stock do they?

If the guy is a hell of a driver, than it could be possible. My buddy had an 04 sti w/ full exhaust, fly wheel, clutch and lowered and he pulled on me like I pulled on the one I raced. Grant it my car was only a couple hours old at the time

Depends on the launch and how hard they are on the trans. Most people will have to work at it a *lot* to get it down to a 12.9, but could do 13.1-13.3 with some effort.

Here is a small vid of mine from the summer of 05.
I have a C&L Street intake and a canned C&L 93 Octane tune in the car running on the factory 17" tires.
My car ran a 13.4 with 2 of us in the car.
They were also 2 in the STI but he didn't dump from the rev limiter.
Dumping from the limiter he would have been right next to us.
The car ran 12.95 in the same configuration on BFG Drag Radials.
With the addition of the Steeda U/D Pullies it ran a 12.82.

Something happened to the guy in the STI at the start. I've raced those cars and they'll take us at the start but we'll pull them in the 1/4. The 1/8th will be scarry with an STI. We need the second 1/8th to let pull them for sure.

What I'm getting at is that if you don't thrash an STI you're not going anywhere.
I' don't do too badly against them on the 1/8th (7.30 best).
My best 60's are in the 1.57 range.

That's a fast 60 time. Almost a 1/2 sec quicker than mine on stock tires. You'll beat most cars with that time.

Gears (I run 3.73) and Good set of tires (285/30-18 R). I also have my car lowered, so I have a steeda third link and panard bar, which helps with the tracktion at the line. I also plan on geting trailing arms.

My 2 cents
