I do that every now and then. I'll pull the car in the garage, put on the helmet and gloves, close my eyes, and race in my mind. It's good mental excerise. Gets the muscle memory developed for things like trail braking, hitting early and late apexes. Even things like using weight transfer to intentionally lose rear traction. That's really only good with a predictable rear suspension, not the stock 4-link, but getting in the habit of thinking about it during the off time helps during the track time
Heck, when I was racing circle track, I'd pull the race seat out of the car and sit in it to watch NASCAR. Sitting there, doing the motions along with the cars on the track helps. At least I think it does.
