droptop...I've got a 4.10 rear end. Besides that, the car is very mild! AND I've got a new IAC valve, new TPS, new coil, new cap/rotor, new plugs, new wires, two new O2 sensors (installed like 2 weeks ago after I yanked out the old, TERRIBLY blackened/rusted out ones... Didn't make any noticeable difference at all except smoother engine operation).....hell, it's got brand new 19 lb 'high flow' fuel injectors. Fuel pressure hasn't been adjusted...right about 38 psi during idle. Sigh.... This car's gonna be the death of me. Or my wallet.

Although one thing....could bad heads give me terrible mileage? I've got ticking...I think it's the exhaust valve on cylinder 8 because I'm down on compression on that cylinder.

My convertible gets 12mpg in the city and 14mpg on the highway. For all thats done to it I'm not complaining. My Cobra seems to be getting over 20mpg just driving around in the city. Its actually pretty nice to own a car that gets good gas mileage

I saw in your sig. you have the APC projector lights...how you liking them? Light output much better or no? I'm getting really tired of not being able to see wtf I'm going at night (especially when it's raining), and can't really find anything besides an HID conversion kit that would give me much if any light output improvement.

You think they're worth the $360 or so bucks for the kit? Just wanted to get your opinion. You wouldn't happen to have any pics would ya?

I'm still getting use to the looks of the lights, but its gradually growing on me. The lighting from these things are ten times better than a stock foxbody. I do most of my driving at night when I am in my convertible and now I can actually see the road, especially on some of those really dark spots on the greenway. The car now has some of the best lighting of any car I have driven. When it comes to the price, they are pretty damn expensive, but everytime I take it out at night now I am glad I bought them.

I don't have any pics but when it actually stops raining around here I will get the car out of the garage and try to make it down to sonics for one of those MMORL meets.

Hey dg28182, do you know when your car was built(month/day)? Mine seems to have been stamped in yellow ink(2/24), on the core support just in front of the battery. I didn't think it was correct but my neighbor dug up all the skinny on mine and the date matched.

Don't mind me just being curious....

Not as well as I would have liked. Garry and Cheryl had a family emergency and could not go to Sebring. Tim Reardon asked if i could help out so I ended up drivng the SCCA truck w/timing trailer to Sebring. Man I hated driving that thing. The steering was very loose, the exhaust leaked, the AC barely worked and the windshield whistled like hell. After I got to Sebring I helped set up the course with Tim and some of the other guys. It was almost 1 mile long and very fast. Brigitte and I helped with signup on Friday night too. I was beat by the time we got to our hotel room that night.

We helped with signup again on Saturday morning and I didn't get a chance to walk the course, bad mistake. I had one hell of a time staying on course Saturday. We only got 3 runs and I blew past on the wrong side of the same gate my first two runs. On my 3rd run I made a bad mistake that cost me at least one second and tried too hard to make it up and missed a slalom cone and ended the day with 3 OC's. Damnit!

It rained during the second session and we had a serious mishap due to the wet track. Dat (the asian guy with the white Prelude in STS) spun out and did a header into a concrete barrier. He wasn't hurt, luckily, but his car is a mess. Front end smashed, radiator and condenser toasted, popped 2 airbags it was pretty serious. All this excitement delayed events and we got done real late and then the sky opened up. I got soaked to the bone taking down the canopy and putting everything away. We couldn't do a printout for trophies so it was postponed until Sunday.

Sunday I concentrated better and made up my mind I would drive the course easy and insure a score even if it was slow. My first run had me in 3rd behind Ian in the EVO and TJ's Mustang. My second run moved me ahead of TJ but the Trans-Am sneaked past me and Ian for first place. That is how it all ended up after the 3rd run as well. Actually I think Ian should have won on Sunday but there seemed to be some timing inconsistencies that I don't feel like going into right now. I would have much preferred 2nd place points in stead of 3rd but there isn't much I can do about it at this point.

It began raining just as the last car finished so I got wet again. I helped take everything down and stow it in the truck. Jerry (the Lincoln guy) said he and his wife would get the SCCA van back to Melbourne. (thank God!) We put all the trophies in the back of the timing trailer so we could hand them out over at the SCCA HQ building instead of standing in the rain. Somehow Jerry did not hear that part of the discussion so they drove off to Melbourne with all the tropies!

Would I go again? Hell yes, it was a blast!
I hope your weekend went well.

I like the paint scheme, alot.

It's YOUR car dude, put on it what YOU like, not what we like.

I did see a fox GT with an '00 R spoiler. Not my thing at all.

Edit: Upon further review, I've changed my mind about your spoiler. Keep it

Glenn, sounds like you got quite a workout last weekend!! I'm sure they appreciated the help though.

Man that sucks about Dat's car! He's the guy who usually helps out in the timing trailer at Palm Bay, right? He seems like a pretty nice guy I'm glad he wasn't hurt, but sounds like his car is toast The G-force musta been pretty high, to pop the airbags. Not many cars stand up well to a concrete barrier.

Yeah it was quite a workout. Temps were in the low 90's and humidity was very high. We were working on a 3000' long runway that was about 300' wide so the heat sort of reflected back up at you. I was glad to get back to the job so I could get a little rest.

Yeah, Dat was the guy that usually helps out with sign-up and timing. He was with a group of us that went out for dinner and a few beers Friday night. He is a first class guy and I really felt bad for him. That was his only car too. We all sort of came together to help him out Saturday night. One of the guys (Bob with the VR-4 Mitsu) offered to take him back to Orlando so they borrowed Tim's truck and my trailer. Bob drove him and the car home (in the rain I might add) and made it back by 10:30 Saturday night.

That sounds like a wild weekend. Our boy in the Trans Am looks like he's coming out of nowhere, and it's only his 3rd or 4th event!

Are you going to the SCCA autocross in Palm Bay the weekend after next? I probably will to make sure my car is in good shape for Evolution.

I certainly plan on it! I want to get some more seat time and use the school to work on my driving. It's going to take a good bit of improvement to catch that EVO. The EVO has close to 40 HP on me and weighs about 200# less so it won't be easy. I guess I will have to put in some 3.55 gears and I think my Trac-Loc needs tobe rebuilt. I am having problems with RR wheelspin exiting corners. Oh yeah, and my clutch is starting to slip too.

Yeah...I think it was.....

Well, Powered by Ford says the gasket/bolt set is coming.... Shouldn't be very long now til my car gets Dave's parts and REALLY starts to pull some nice numbers!

Anyone wanna take bets on how long it'll take to blow my transmission? 146,xxx miles on a stock AOD, never rebuilt, higher than normal TV pressure adjustment...going from about 225 rwhp to 300..maybe a tad more...rough math. I give it 2 months.

Hey Eric K

Ran into a buddy of yours this week at the Ford training center. Guy by the name of Tim. We had a nice chat about SCCA racing and whatnot, he seemed like a nice guy. Oh yeah, I passed the course too!

Eric, I thought you were talkin' about your boat.

When you gettin that coupe painted? and who's doing it, if you don't mind me asking. I'll prolly be throwing a Maaco special on the Grand Monkey this summer, after I do a little body work. What would you do? The trunk lid has some small(very small) bubbles of rust on it in a number of places. Would you replace the lid(odds are the underside paint won't match) or fix the rust spots? I've had a number of cars which I've done body work on, but have never gotten to the paint stage..... It's going to be repainted the factory color(kinda reminds me of the 'dove grey' that was available on the Mustang).

Dumb question---> Is the '03 Cobra eligible for ESP class? If so, with the update/backdate rules, could you run a roots style blower on your Cobra? Just wondering.
