When I had to buy a new battery, I didn't do anything but replaced it. You loose the radio settings and reset the clock. That's all I remember I had to do. Didn't lose the tune or anything like that . It seemed to have refreshed everything and I noticed my Mustang was faster for several days, until the adaptive memory for my automatic transmission started learning .
