No that is a myth some people have. 3.55's were an OPTION only. Some did however come with them without it being listed in the options list. Tim in Charleston is one example of just such a surprise. In the Saleen book it shows the cars that were optioned with 3.55's.

You got lucky Tim!! I'll be curious to see the difference.
I still have the stock 3:08's, but with the supercharger i don't really notice.
It's nice cruizing 80mph and only turning up about 2000rpm! though
What is your rpm's @ 80mph with the 3:55's

i know from the calculator we used, my 4th gear rpm at 50 mph matched a 3.55 gear. it was in the 2400 rpm range. The only interstate the car has seen was on the trailor home lol

3.55s here & loving every sqeeze of the throttle w/ them! night & day from the 2.73s i had in there. actually, i scored an entire 8.8 rear end w/ complete disc brake setup & 3.55s for 150.00 LOL! less than a set of gears cost, never mind the install cost! you will love them Bill!!

with the kb torque and natural tq of the 302, the last thing he needs is gears. may i suggest some afr 185's and custom cam lol
