MGW Shifter

Just got my car back, i decided to put the cobra hood and bumper. i just installed my short shifter, and its pretty cool. but wasn't what i was expecting. its pretty noisy so i decided to put some of the dynomax stuff under there that helped. its worth the money though. ill post pics as soon as get out the camera.

You need to update your sig now! I hear the MGW is worlds better than both the Steeda and the Pro 5.0.

oh and before i forget its way better than pro5.0, a stang i test drove had 5.0 and it sucked compare to MGW

If it's noisy, you may need more RTV. When I first put mine in, I was at the end of a tube. So I skimped and put it on. It whined a bit. After a couple of weeks, I pulled it and put a good bead of RTv on. Now it is silent - actually quieter than stock.

If you have a good bead of RTV, then you should contact George. He posts on here sometimes (user name:mgtltd). Tell him about your issue. He is incredibly good about supporting his products!

crap. so i need to take it out. it doesn't bother me. well not enough to take it apart, do i really need to?

You don't need to. But it should be silent. Beyond the noise, I can't imagine leaving it as is would cause any harm.

ok then it stays, i had to remove it twice cuz i couldn't get 6the stop points right.

i just got my MGW shifter like 2 months ago. i probably have only put like 500 miles on it but its pretty nice. i didnt like it much at first, it was hard to get into gear and getting it in to reverse was and still is a PITA. i should mention that i have a d&d viper spec t56 (very fun!) and getting into reverse requires some effort no matter what shifter you have.

i was kind of bummed that i didnt go with 5.0 or another steeda like i had before on my t5. i went to the track and missed 3rd on one pass, then second on another pass. when i missed 2nd i was like wtf! that should be impossible. turns out the nut on the end of my clutch cable (under my car) was vibrating loose and right at the end of the cable when i got home. i had my steeda firewall adjuster fully extended and i had to rev the **** out of my car to get it into gear. i was doing 1-3-5 shifts for like 90miles until i got home from the track. now with all of that out of the way and another nut backing the first one (chuckle) things are pretty nice. the shifter is adjustable and it fits me like a glove, now i dont regret choosing MGW. it just needed a little time to break in. hope you enjoy it as much as i do.
and mine is pretty quiet but sometimes i get a vibration noise when its in 5th or 6th.

I was about to buy a MGW to replace my POS ripper shifter.... should I get the tri-ax instead????

no way. mgw is the only shifter.

I would consider the MGW shifter again (if i didnt already have one). i would like it a bit better if i aligned it to be more shifter friendly and not driver friendly. now what i mean by that is i have it angled too much for my comfort and not enough for straight line shifts. i feel that you can make it too driver friendly then the shifts will become seemingly offset from the drivers seat. so when i shift the shifter things look offset (if you can follow me). i am going to reset my shifter (which is f-ing sweet, you cant do this with any other shifter) to be more straight forward 1-2, 2-3, 3-4, 4-5, 5-6 shifts (they are just way too offset now). this will be in a while though as i am considering pulling my motor/trany and going to town on everything during the off season.

just keep in mind what i said before -it is tight at first, but over some time and some miles the shifter will break in and find its home. it is the best shifter out there for the money(which is not cheap by the way like $234 shipped with the gripper shifter).
