BBK Shorty chrome headers...

That's it, I am taking my time, researching, and making pretty good choices.

I know what you mean there. They're excellent for a few years .... which is why I bought them (intentions on getting something better down the road).

They're cheap, look nice (at first anyway), easy to install, and nice quality built. I'll definitely be using coated LT's later on, though.

I'd personally like to thank the thread starter. I started reading some of your posts a while back Ben. It has already saved my butt many times by doing some research. If I hadn't, I would be sitting on some AFR 165's right now that are NOT going to work for my goal. So thanks for that ..... and this thread, too.

1. Regret having bought a mac aftercat, switched to bassani later.

2. Regret buying my Tremec 3550 and not saving a bit more for a t56, or had I waited a few months more they would have came out with the newer tremecs.

3. Building other cars instead of putting more money in mine

4. Regret doing some UPR billet overlays in my interrior, looks good but should have done carbon fiber.

5. Regret doing retarded projectors as an impulse buy when I 1st got it. Thank God they're long gone and have long since been replaced by smoked ones.

4. All and all I think I've done pretty good keeping it somewhat tame til I get a bigger beast under the hood.

Looking over my excel sheet of all the mods I've done and what I paid I am pretty happy. No regrets on what I've bought. I still have quite a bit more to do: catback, Gforce T5 gear set, and probably a Vortec SC because of its ease of installation. Then when the motor blows I am hoping to get one of the new BOSS302 blocks and building from there.

EDIT: Okay, I do have one regret. I should've installed 4.10s instead of the 3.73s.

+1, the look of the blueoval hl's is much cleaner, especially on black.

i regret buying these damn u/d pullies, i have to put the stock one back on. and i hate my mac CAI once my stock MAF went bad and i bought a pro-m the CAI has been collecting dust since it for a stock air box MAF.

i also kind of regret buying a turbo kit. well i regret not have the room to install it really. since it's going to be to two years it's been sitting in boxes. in a way i kinda wished i did a KB when i wanted to. it would of been almost 2K less and it would of been installed.

also for listening to the first shop i use to take my car to. i pretty much bought what they wanted to install. instead i should got off my lazy ass, researched and bought what i wanted to turn the car into. never again

U/D pulleys for me, even though i got them as a gift but i also think they might be the cause of me going through 2 alternators.

no problem justin. i hate wasting money and damn near everything i have modded i have had to do over. mostly for me my goals keep changing, not so much me buying junk parts.

if i only had a clear goal from the beginning i would be done right now. for all the guys starting to mod let that be a lesson for you--and no, having a "badass" stang is not a goal. you should be specific as possible with your goal and build to suit.

How about a 50% regret

I had been out of the Stang mod thing for a few years and when I got back in I decided to go for the maximum performance gain for the buck spent.

Ya'll ever told yourself something
but
in the back of your mind ......
you really knew you were just trying to fool yourself?

That was how it was with my self ported oem iorn head based combo.

I told myself I would be satisified with the outcome, when all along, my gut told me I would want more

While I had a lot of fun
and
did not really loose any money to speak of

I could have made it easier on myself
by
just skipping the oem stuff
and
starting off with the aftermarket stuff.

Now that it is all said and done ... at least done for now

I do have one kinda sorta regret

Should'a had Ed cut me a hotter bumpstick

mmr coil-overs with m/m c/c plates and strange struts. i have an extremely annoying rattle over even the smallest of bumps and it drives me crazy. i still don't know exactly what the problem, but i have read more than a few times that it is the combination of the strange struts and the m/m c/c plates.

i think i am going to go back to springs, at least for now, when the new motor and k-member go in.

Ben posted up some wise words here

This thread could be very helpful

This thread could also be misleading

Specific Expectations and Goals
determine
Specific Mod Applications

If you wanna tell about a mod that was BAD
and
You don't tell WHY it was bad ........................ FOR YOU

That is how one could be mislead ... don't ya see

Quick example ... and ... I'm gone

Me ... my main focus is usually performance

Someone said they did not like their pulleys
I love mine

In my case, I don't have a mega watt sound system
and
I could care less if the head lights fliker a bit at idle

They provide an easy way to pick up torque all across the power band
soooooooooooo
For Me and my goals ... they are a great fit into my plans

chalk me up for short tube mac headers too....crappiest headers ever. cool thing is they glow in the dark when hot. but considering i didn't pay for them, they came on the car, i'm okay with it.

not buying a k-member and painting my engine bay when i had the engine out. i think next winter that is the project.

as usual grady, i agree with you totally.

like my cobra brakes--some may use them with great sucess for them, but they just did not fit my bill.

i too do not have issue with pullies--stock stereo.

btw--i hated my mac headers as well.

Pretty much every part I had to take off my car and sell to do my turbo setup. I wish from the very start I would have known I was going the turbo route and had built my car from that standpoint. Not to mention not putting money into BS stuff that I could make way more power with by just turning the boost up a little.

Justin, I got my bullet lug nuts from wheel replicas(www.wheelreplicas.com). If they can't help you out let me know, I may be able to part with one of mine.

Mods I regret:
Ultra clear headlights and foglights......Should have got the smoked ones
AGX struts....The car handled better with the stock 120K struts
FRPP HD clutch...Grabbed good for a while, pressure plate was shot after 15k.
3.73's...Shoulda went with 3.55's
Hotchkis C/C plates....I need to replace them with 4-bolt C/C plates when I get around to installing coil overs.
Aluminum DS....Probably didn't help much, and I found out it was bent after installing my TKO.

I regret NOT installing a new starter when I was installing my new engine. Changing it with LT's is a pita.

That's all I can think of atm.

Replacement Vinyl top...should have gone with cloth.

Should have done a K-member when the motor came out.

Should have come on Stangnet before I built my motor.

Worst thing ever by far is the underdrive pullies. The only other regret is getting APC clear corners instead of a higher quality.
