I just bought a project 93 notch and I have quite a few questions on what I should do about the electrical end of the deal. I bought the car with no computer, and the harness is useless because the guy hacked the snot out of it...My guess is he wanted to go carbureted... Anyways, what are some good options as far as the harness is concerned? I'm looking to make it a strip car, but I would like all the exterior and interior lights to function properly. I've heard good things about painless and the ford racing harnesses. Any suggestions as to which path I should take and where I could get the harness from?

As I mentioned earlier I'm gonna need a computer too. I've seen a bunch of different kinds of computer (ie. A9L, A9S, etc...) I would just like to know the difference between the different modules and what would be the best option for various applications. This is my first project car, but I'm not going to stop building mustangs any time soon, so the more info I can absorb the better. Thanks a lot.

You can probably pick up a computer and the wiring harness off of E-bay for a good price. I don't know that much about the difference in computers. My 93 has the A3M computer in it I believe, but I am not sure how different it is from the A9L. I have heard good things about the painless as well, but never actually messed with one.

Do a stock harness from Ebay or the junkyard. The next cheapest (and best of all) is the Ford racing harness.

Late 92 through 93 harnesses should be compatible (single dash connector, fuel pump relay under the hood)

See http://www.veryuseful.com/mustang/tech/engine/images/mustangMainHarness.gif for a picture of what this harness will look like,

Save your $$ and rip your engine and go carb. You'll have a hell of a headache getting the harness to work correctly with the computer you need. I went carb and I'll never do EFI again, Even on my future vert. Good Luck!
