What are some indicators that your motor mounts are wearing out?

The rubber is usually all cracked. I just rebuilt my motor. When I pulled the motor out, the mounts fell in two piece's. I went to O'Reilly and got the vert mounts. They're much lighter and were $10 a piece cheaper. Not near as much rubber on the vert mounts and I love them.

If your fan hits the radiator shroud and
when you step on the gas the motor jumps up and down.

yep, the mech fan will get real close to the bottom of the fan shroud opening.

dont forget to do the trans mount too - if MM's are toast, trans mount is likely not far behind.

good luck.

If you have stock mounts in a '93 or newer car, they are probably worn out. Replace them with the convertible mounts which are stronger.

Typo - I meant '93 or older, not '93 or newer - sorry!

The bottom line is, by now pretty well all of the stock rubber style mounts in fox3 cars are junk. If miles haven't wrecked them, time has.

Good info. In not sure if I need them or not. Its kinda hard to tell if its the Ecam that shaking the motor or if I just have some crap mounts. So do you just need a cherry picker to change them or what?

That's probably the best way to do it.

have not done the picker method (i dont have resources like Jason does. ).

a jack and stands works just fine. takes a couple hours the first time (did me anyhow). once you do them once, next time is much faster.

one can deduce a little from just lookin at them.

good luck.
