lol first when you describe you car try "88 hatchback 2.3 turbo" when you mention SVO to people who have them its just sounds funny.

I've gotten an average of 25MPG with the 88 coupe turbo and that included a trip over the mountain.

Why don't you just check your own mileage? Every car is different, as is each person's driving style. I've got as low as 9mpg (drove the **** out of my SVO) and as good as 26 in my 91 turbo hatch...on the highway.

Generally you will see 23-38 on the highway and 18-22 city.

the 25 mpg was on the highway and included a trip across the mountain.

I get really poor gas mileage in town. Probably about 12-15 or less. Something about riding through town a couple of times in second and letting it spool, then let off and start the process over again.

Yeah it definately varies from car to car especially if its not running right.

Like Stinger said, every car is different. You'll figure out pretty quick what kind of mileage you're getting. I think these gas tanks are pretty big, 15 gallons I believe. For whatever reason I get really good fuel economy, I get about 30mpg combined city and highway. And the reason why that is even more incredible is because my car is not really running right, it needs a tune-up pretty bad. Its bone stock, things like CAI will improve economy a little. But in general you will see around 25mpg combined, turbo's may be a little less. 23-24 perhaps.

By the way, if you run a forum search you should get your answers. These types of fuel mileage discussions have been gone over many times.

and just because it will do 55mph in second pretty easy, doesn't mean you should drive down the highway in second.
