237RWHP and 273RWTQ

I got this car dyno'd after my headswap with the stock gears and it put down 249HP and 293TQ. Well, I got it dyno'd today with 4.10 gears and the MPH tune. I ran a baseline with the stock tune and I got the numbers above. I know the gears throw the number off a bit and it was a different dyno and different day (both were Dynojet 248C), but do gears really throw the numbers off that much?

Also, on the two runs with the custom tune, my A/F was perfect at about 13.5 across the board and I gained about 15TQ and 8HP between 2,500 RPM and 4,000 RPM, but the peak numbers were about 1-2 HP and TQ lower than the stock tune. 235RWHP and 271RWTQ.

When you look at the 3 A/F ratios, the stock one goes south after 4,000RPM and the two custom tunes level off, but there is no power increase whatsoever between 4,000 and 6,000. What's up with that? Is this normal?

The car is much smoother and easier to drive and obviously has more mid-range, but I was expecting more HP and TQ at the peak numbers.

Perfectly normal looking numbers to me . It was going way lean on the top end with the factory tune, thats why your peaks looked better. That and it was probably a lot colder last time you had it dynoed.

Actually the factory tune went way rich, like 11.8:1. The custom tune flattens out to 13.5:1. That's what confuses me.

did you ask MPH about this, they will give you the best answer. Any ways, your numbers don't look bad and you said the power under the cuve increased and driveability of the car is much better. I would be happy and would take it to the track.

Yeah, they got the same story y'all got. I think you're right about the track. There's a clutch and two axles just waiting to explode for me.

Numbers sound good. But they are going to be what they are, but as long as your AF is solid, and the driveability is way better, then I would be happy.

Sounds like a winner to me, and yes, gears will reduce numbers a little.

Time to change the sig to a happy face, and get yer butt to the track!

I'm thinking too hard again! I know that this dyno was just installed about 2 months ago. Does anyone know anything about how they work? Do they have a break in period? What if it's new and tight? Would a dyno that's had 1,000 runs on it spit out higher numbers??? What holds the drum in the floor? Are there some type of bearings in there? Just thoughts

When in doubt, head to a different shop and have it dynoed.

How about dyno-tuned? I got myself an appointment at Kauffmans Motorsports in PA.

Post your dyno graphs, with AF, if you can.
