I just ordered the catted MRT H pipe for my 01'GT
I am having major second thoughts.
I live in NJ, does anyone know if my car will fail emissions with this new pipe?
Does NJ do a visual check, and if so is it mandatory to have 4 cats to pass?
*worried*

Are you serious? Woahh.....

He'll get down on his hands and knees and check the undercarriage?

I'm NOT being sarcastic, I'm just very suprised...
Also, as long as it's catted, isn't it still legal? I'm in CT so the laws may differ...

they can do whatever the hell they want

by law standards you can only remove the pipe if the stock had a problem with it. most shops will not skip the visual cause they can lose thier inspection licence

I can't believe NJ is tougher than NY on this as I have passed emissions inspections yearly for the past 5 years and also have not ever had anyone pull me over to have a look see. If anyone does look under my car they are going to see "cats" on my mid pipe. Kind of tough to see under there also, so they would practically have to be laying down.

I can see if you have no cats and a loud exhaust that you might be inviting someone to look under. Just in case though, I do have my old stock "damaged" mid pipe stored away as proof that it had to be replaced.

I doubt that the police know all the different emissions equipment that belongs on all cars and in what quantity. They also aren't allowed to bend over or get on their knees or anything that puts them in a position that they can be taken by suprise.

JUST A FYI the D.O.T in Massachusettes and Rhode Island both carry poles with mirrors on the ends just to look under vehicles....

mind you need to give them a reason to look they dont just randomly pull you over but if your car is loud they might look further.

I have passed NJ inspection with a bassani catted X pipe. NJ will throw the book at you if they catch you with no cats...i just tell them mine were damaged so i had to replace them. you should be ok as long as you have some cats.

And yes NJ police will get down on hands and knees to see if you have them. Thats why I chose A Borla catback over something louder so i don't give them a reason to look.

I put my off x-pipe on after inpsection. Just don't any thing crazy to get pulled over, driving around town I pretty much don't get on it. I know here in Toms River the the cops don't really bother you unless to speeding or something. They like to bother the the younger crowd that haning out in the local parking lots. Maybe cause I'm a little older they do give me a second look.

even though isnt it easy to damage "cats" upstate during the winter months? if you do run an aftermarket midpipe just make sure you keep the factory hpipe for when you do go for emissions.
