Thanks for the warning. I had not heard of this. You might also want to post this in 5.0 Tech.

I think you need to calm down and take a pill. The rockers roller tip should contact the intake side of the valve tip, then as the valve opens, it should roll across the tip toward the exhaust side. Now, how big the contact patch is, is what you need worry over. You want as small a patch as possible. The tech guy at Crane was correct. Depending on the heads, valves used, stud and pushrod length, small block Chevy rockers can be used on Ford heads. Same is also true on the 351C, 429/460 heads, they use the same rockers as the big block Chevy's do.

But even as you've just demonstrated in your lesson, even buying the correct part # for a Ford rocker, may not also be the right part. So, no I did not miss the point, you have my friend. And by alerting others to a problem that they may not run into as you have, you've unnecessarily given Crane a bad rap.

always check valve train geometry. it should run from the edge furthest from the rocker to the center of the valve tip at full lift, then back. as long as the rocker follows the correct path you have no problem. and yes chevy rockers fit ford engines, as long as the geometry is correct you will have no problem. i would say get a set of lightweight checking springs and check the geometry of the rockers you have, it sound slike they fit just fine.

I ran the 11747 on a set of windsor JR's and while the tip was off a bit it worked just fine for my mostly drag racing car. If you must have a perfect valve train setup then you are for sure not gonna get it with a set of $400 rockers and $50 lifters. So you are basicly gonna have to find what works best, if a basic chevy or ford rocker works then go with it. the rockers I just bought wont fit anything but the new tfs head, but I could run a gold or tfs rocker if I didnt mind a bit of valve guide wear. Yes, shaft rockers are worth the money.

You would make a good politican D. You read but dont want to understand.
I did not say ford rockers was wrong, you did. so this post can just go down the toilet. I dont give a flys ass that you dont understand good geometry.

I understand perfectly, I've re-read your first post three times, and based on what you posted, your geometry is just fine. And the Crane rockers you had to start with were perfect. You don't want the rocker's tip centered on the valve tip when it's closed, it should be slightly off center toward the intake side and roll across it as it goes to full lift, just as you posted. And just as you posted, even Ford spec'd rockers may not be correct for any given application. I've got a set of Canfield heads, and Canfield states in their instructions for those heads, that based on the final geometry, either Ford or Chevy rockers, will work with their heads. And based on what the others here have posted, I'm not the only one here that , according to you, doesn't "get it"
