did he mean stock engine(like no cams or anything) or stock exhaust?
either way i'd have to say i like the sound of my 4v. but a friend of mine has a 5.0 with full exhaust and it sounds sick too.

I like the 4V although it's close. My old 96GT sounded pretty nasty, but that was with a BBK hi-flow pipe. My 95GT sounds disgusting, but that's mainly a result of the cam and blower...it even has Summit mufflers.

By stock, I meant stock motor, obviously not stock exhaust because none of the stock exhausts shows off the tone very well. I think stock motored the 4v sounds the best, but modded 5.0s sound great with h/c/i

Well that doesn't make any sense, I thought you were talking "stock" as in the whole car......right down to the air filter. With the variety of aftermarket exhaust systems out there, you make your 5.0, 4.6 SOHC/DOHC sound any of a couple dozen different ways. With an aftermarket exhaust system and some engine work, 90% of the people on this board couldn't tell one car from another just by hearing it.

Hell....I've heard Mustangs of both engine configurations sound like an old Chevy P/U truck with the wrong exhaust componenets on them.

Actually, most 03 Cobra owners I know says my car sounds better than theirs. I do think a blower whine or whistle paired with an exhaust further enhances the overall sound. For example, ported Eaton Cobras sound the sickest IMO. You can hear the turbo-like whistle even when it's not in boost.

Agreed.....the S-ported Eaton on my Cat has a nice whistle to it when you're revving it out in neutral......then once you get into boost and under load, that familiar "Eaton whine" comes on and I start to grin. It’s even more amplified by the 1” plenum spacer I had made for my manifold.

….to tell you the truth, I purposely went with a quiet exhaust just so I could hear the blower better.

That's the one thing I don't have on mine. You hear the blower whistle at idle, but I can't hear it over the exhaust at all once I get on it.

Not my car, but it is an MN12 with the same blower I've got.....with a few subtle differences of course.

Check out this Cobra

Man, I wish my blower sounded like that. It even sounds cool when decelerating. I bet it'd be fun just whistling through parking lots while having everyone looking with that "wtf" expression on their face.
