I am looking for a good Ford mechanic/shop to work on a FI 302 Mustang (1990 model). Not necessarily a performance shop, just somebody very familiar with maintenance and repair of engine and drivetrain components.

I have heard of Excessive Motorsports in Manassas, but I would prefer a location that is closer to DC and/or to the metro (DC itself, Arlington, Alexandria, Fairfax, Silver Spring, Bethesda, Rockville, Gaithersburg, Laurel, etc.).

Thanks
Andy

I live in Beltsville (between Laurel and College Park) and I have been searching for a good shop for about 3 years now. Mostly for the performance stuff.

What I have discovered is that for Ford type general maintenance, most LEGAL shops are okay...

There's always the Dealer (make sure you get kissed first).

If I had to endorse a local non-performance shop...Beltsville Garage on Route 1 is excellent.

When you need a PERFORMANCE SHOP (and most likely you will) we are stuck traveling to Glen Burnie, Woodbine, Springfield, and some even go to Pennsylvania.

These are all excellent shops but too far away. I want something that if I have to drop my car off I can get back home without a lot of fuss.
I have yet to try Rockville (There are two shops up there...Maryland Performance Center and I can't think of the other shop).

I have used Espuetes in the past with some success (5sp/EFI only...Good guy named Nate used to work there...not sure if he is still there or not).

GoodLuck

If anyone on here knows a place in LAUREL please advise.

There's a guy in Beltsville named Tony Pasta. I use him for most of my stuff. He'll do things like gears, suspension, exhaust and superchargers, but he doesn't have a dyno. Very straightforward and honest guy.
