Absolutely beautiful car!!! I am green with envy. There is nothing like an early fastback. Nice selection of parts too. Have you taken it to the strip? If not I think you should and then post your results here

Thanks for the compliments so far guys!

Vinyl66 - Yeah, I would like to take the car to the strip, but there is always just the fear of snapping or bending an axle during a heavy launch. We are running 235/60/15 BFG drags, and the car hooks pretty hard. It is also a show car, so there are some worries there too. I am always curious though as to how it will do... It would be nice if it would trap out in the 103-105 mph range and run at least low 13's, maybe even high 12's with a solid launch and 60ft time. Those numbers all depend on the weight of the car. Have any of you guys weighed your 65-66's?

I love the color....I guess so since it is the color I have been planning on painting my fastback as soon as it gets to that stage (it has been in this stage for years so don't hold your breath). You have a beautiful car.

I would like to know what your car traps too. I used to have 89 convertible that trapped 107 in the quarter. It only ran 13.40's though because of 225/50 street tires. It had ligitimate 12 sec. power but I stayed in the 13's because of traction.
With my new 66 I plan to hit the 12's. Those are the tires (235/60 BFG Drag Radials) I had planned on using too.
I haven't weighed my 66 yet but it is MUCH easier to push around the driveway than my 89 was. It weighed 3340 without me in it.

Slowly but surely. I'm getting tired of the damn 96 crapping out on me. Last month it was the clutch, and I just got done replacing the intake manifold at about 2:00 this morning. If my daily driver would just run right, I might actually get to work on the fastback.

Thanks for all of the great compliments guys. It was a long process (also quite expensive...), but it always seems to come out worth it when you are driving along and you get thumbs and waves from other people on the road. It is fun catching that one person just staring at it that you would never expect to have any interest in a car. Anyways, you guys in your restorations, keep it coming along and good luck with 'em. There are not too many of us classics on the road.

Take care everyone
