About 2 months ago I put X pipes on my car and it ran great for awhile. I also added a cold air intake a couple weeks later. After about 2 weeks of having the intake on the car started missing real bad when I would get on it. Sometimes I would get in it and it would run great and not miss, but most the time it misses and its driving me crazy, it also isn't idleing steady at all, sounds like its about to cut off. anybody know whats going on??? PLEASE HELP

Start with the basics. Have you cleaned the MAF? Use only a product designed for the job. No brake clean. No carb/choke cleaner.

Do you have any vacuum leaks? What about exhaust leaks? Even a tiny one?

Any check engine lights? Even a pending DTC will give us a clue.

Do you have under drive pulleys?

Has there ever been water/coolant in the spark plug wells? If so, consider replacing the COP boot insulators. Autozone (Durlast) makes a very affordable set of COP replacement boot insulators.

This could also be excessive EGR flow or low fuel pressure. When was the last time the fuel filer was replaced?

How many miles are on the car, and how many miles are on your plugs?

Make sure any connectors you pulled off were put back on tightly. Maybe something came loose.

yes the service engine soon light keeps coming on for a couple days and then it'll go off for a couple days, i dont understand it. i've had it scanned a couple times and it says something about the cataltic converters or something like that. but when i put the x pipes on i took the converters off. there has been water on the motor a couple weeks before it started acting up. i got 125000 on the car and i changed the plugs about 6 months ago. the MAF stayed in the same spot when i put the CAI on. thanks for all the comments, keep them coming so i can get this figured out. thanks alot guys. im in the concord nc area by the way

Post up the exact code you got from the CEL.

What do you mean water on the motor? Did it get washed in a flood? There could be a number of things wrong if the motor sat in water for any period of time.
