Hey, I am about to install gt40 heads on my 88 GT and have a small problem. I tried to swap the spark plugs from the old head to the GT40s and the plugs dont fit. Does anyone know what year and/or model mustang plugs I should use for this. Im I dont need anything fancy for the plugs, just something to get me going for now. Thank you.

autolite 3924's i think are the correct one. go to the parts store and ask for plugs for a 98 explorer with a 5.0 and they should be the same ones.

I beleive gt40 iron's take an autolite 764. They do not use stock plugs from an E7 head.

Autolite 764's.

EVery GT-40 version uses that plug. It's the same plug as the 4.6L Mustang as well

the 764 is the same plug for the explorers. Don't even look it up on their monitor, just tell them to grab you 4-764 plugs.....jk 8 -764 plugs

Related to this zombie thread are the plugs I just got for my E-7 heads. I ordered AC Delco Copper core plugs, and I expected them to be reboxed Denso plugs. Nope.

They are made in China, with a black oxidized finish. They look well enough made, but I’m definetly using anti seize and checking gaps.
I’m not sure where to get new plugs made in the US or Japan anymore.

NGK makes their plugs in Japan still. I run them in ESP and the 4Runner exclusively.

Delco and Motorcraft are relabeled Autolites, which are made by Honeywell, hence the Chinese manufacturing.

I see a lot of NGK branded plugs on Amazon with bad reviews saying they received knockoffs. I might be tempted to say that I would only buy them at the dealership at this point. Knockoff parts are a serious problem these days.

I get mine from the local parts store or Rock Auto to avoid that.

Amazon has a ton of fake automotive parts these days. Lots of fake motorcraft and AC delco stuff as well as other brands
