This is my wife's 77 Ghia. Due to medical stuff the car languished on the driveway for a year to the day.
I am R&R the whole front suspension including rack & pinion.
New rear leaf springs are here. I think it's a 9 inch. I know it's not a 12 bolt.
Offy intake came today. May install a cam. Have a Sanden AC compressor, hoses, condenser, etc coming. The whole system weighs the same as FOMOCO York compressor.
I can't find pix sitting on all 4.
Are there any sources for 13 inch tires? I found what seem to be "we bought the moulds, and you'll pay" set. I'll be going 5 lug, but I want it to be driven.
The door tag is still there.

Nice looking car! Mine unfortunately sat in the driveway for about a year as well but didn't fare as well. As far as the rear end goes, it looks to be the stock 8 inch. About the easiest way I can think of to know if it's the stock rear end is to look at the axle tubes. The OD tapers down out around the leaf spring mounts compared to around the center section whereas other car's 8 inch rears use a straight tube. And I can't help much with 13" tires as I got rid of them years ago.

Nice Car! Please keep us updated on the build. As LiLCBRA said; go to at least 14" tires. The 13's are just a pain to find. I gave up.

Luckily I live in AZ a car cover helped a lot.
Besides engines I don't know "at a glance" stuff about Fords. In that little car it looks like a dump truck 3rd member was put in it. I'll look for the taper, figures pic is a few inches to low.
I want to go to 14s, but I also want the car to move. It can move on 13s and switching over won't dead line the car. Those tiny pathetic walmart tires the seller put on it..SMH. They will probably sacrificed at the alter of torque test hole shots.
When its driveable I'll look for a donor with 2.8. I ain't throwing crazy doomed 11::1 in it. With a tightened up .030 over balanced and blue printed bottom end, port matched to intake and pocket ported heads I hoping for or close to 1/1 at the rear end
I've been a hot rodders for 45 years. I see all sorts of potential in this car. Tube frame 429, Linco .

Since he just posted some good pics of the 8" in his thread, you can see where the axle tubes taper down in the pics on the last page of the thread here: https://www.stangnet.com/mustang-forums/threads/exorcising-a-78.915269/
An 8 inch it is. When you wrote about the taper I went and checked.l the axle tubes. The C4 made me hopeful for a 9 inch.
The 3.00 has to go soon as the car is moving. I hope there's something around a 3:73 set of gears that will fit. My wife does not need top end. She drove from Tucson to Kingman in 4.25 hours in the 71 coupe. Avg speed well over 80.

Thanks. The Offy is a trick looking little 2 piece intake *remember loc-tite*. Brian at RACERWALSH said it was the last one on the shelf. It came with gaskets, linkages, throttle cable bracket, a cast aluminium air cleaner adapter, other stuff I have no idea what it's for and all the bolts for $540. I'm waiting on the 390 Holley and the quick change secondary kit. I have a C.A.I. mocked up and ready to install when it arrives. The induction should work well.
