There is a box mounted on the forward headliner inside my 2012 that has the interior lights on it. It obviously has other functions since the corners of the box have what look like lights but are not. What is it? A sensor? The owners manual doesn't show this device.

If its similar to my 2006 then most likely what your looking at that look like sensors I believe are the mic's to raise the radio volume as the road noise inside the cabin gets louder with higher speeds.

Makes sense. I had my windows tinted last Friday and since then my dash lights illuminate when I drive the car. I was thinking maybe that was detected by this box we're talking about. Thanks for the response!

Well it wouldnt be directly related to your dash lights at all. All it does is control speaker volume as it gets louder inside the cabin so you dont have to physically turn it up. If the dash lights are flickering you have a separate issue.

I think it also has the sensors for the motion alarm.

They are, as stated, sensors for the motion detectors. Roll down the windows, lock the doors, and try to reach inside....or, lock the doors when the wife is waiting inside the car......
