NC license revocation

Ok, so i went to court today for a ticket. Now, it's my third ticket in a year mind you, and it was for 74/55, i told a nice story and got it dropped to exceeding a safe speed. Now here's the question. I know there is a law in NC about losing your license for 30 days for 3 moving violations in a year. WEll i've racked up those three. Next question, have any of you had a license revoked and if so, does the revocation itself affect your insurance, or just the violations it was revoked for? This is for NC primarily, but anyone with info please help me.

Thanks for the ******* comment. I know this, I've screwed up a few times, it has always taken me a while to learn my lesson. I'm accepting the consequences for my actions, and I just want a simple answer. I want to know if the insurance kills you for the license pull itself or just the infraction. Someone out there that isn't an ******* please answer my question.

I don't think the insurance company get's mailed anything. Unless you drop your coverage and have to get new insurance, they don't normally check.
Could be wrong.

That's what i'm thinking. I don't think they will actually rape me for the loss of license, but just the infraction. I'm losing my license because of nc's law about 3 in a year. I hate that i got these, but i brought them on myself. I'm very glad i did get the ticket reduced to exceeding a safe speed, it's only a point compared to 2 for speeding over 55, and i would have lost my license for exceeding 15 over the speed limit. Ever since that ticket, you'd think i was an old lady driving down the road. It's hard to change habits, but i think i finally succeeded. Take it from me, if you think you can get away with speeding, think again, every time i've ever been pulled over, i've recieved a ticket. Never been given a warning, never had a cop be nice. So, just don't go more than 5mph over the speed limit, and don't EVER rely on a radar detector. I used to break both those rules, but i NEVER raced or drove like a maniac, i just was a fast driver. When traffic was heavy, i did not risk anything, i'd stay with traffic, i just seem to get caught on wide open roads. And my V6 seems to be the worst, never gotten pulled over in the GT, maybe i'm just more careful in it. And raykrv6a, thanks for the reply and simple answer.

I love that speed kills argument... guess what any speed can kill somone even the speed limit. I guess we should all quit driving !

I've known people to die at 35 mph. Drive off a bridge in bad weather, land in a river or lake, and drown. So, I understand speed kills, but just cuz i was goin 74, doesn't mean i have any higher chance of dying if i was going 35 and got hit by someone running a redlight. But nice point ponypowa2. LMAO

I agree, slow your arse down. Most insurance company check at least once a a year.

Yes, your insurance will go up...for both the infraction and the revocation. Any time your license is suspended or revoked youre pretty much screwed.

Well, I have new information. Apparently, the 3 moving violations in a year is BS. It only affects drivers under the age of 18. I'm gladly 19. And since i got the ticket dropped to exceeding a safe speed, i may just be fine. Waiting on a reply from the DMV now. I've been reading laws alllll day, and i think i've reached victory.

I'm not sure how it works in NC but down here you can go to court and plead "no contest" and most of the time you'll get the points dropped and you just pay the fine...since this is your 3rd violation in a year they'll probably make you do a driving school or something...if you're in a really big county they just wanna get you in and get you out quickly as possible but in a smaller county the judge might bitch you out or tack on more fine money

I live in the proverbial small ville. so, well, i just bargained with the DA and got exceeding a safe speed, and i got the word from the DMV, i will not lose my license.

You are correct now in that one, you will not lose your license and two, that you would have only been hit for the actual moving violations and not the revocation. You can still however lose your license on a points basis but not on a 3 in a year deal. The 3 in a a year is still going to be murder on your insurance though regardless.

And yes, just as many people die in non-excessive speeding incidents as speeding incidents. Just as many die in under speed accidents as well and can be just as dangerous.
