i got some new cometic gaskets in the mail... was wondering which way they go on for sure.

i had cometics on before and put them on the way i thought they went on, large coolant passages to the back. i took it to a place to have the cooling system flushed and they could BARLEY pump coolant through it. they were trying to tell me my t-stat was in backwards.

my question is, if they go on with the large coolant passages toward the back, whats the point? the rear coolant passages dont go anywhere but the heads... doesnt it make more sense if the large passages are toward the front? the front passages actually go in the lower intake and through the t-stat and back into the radiator....

this time i got the cometics for an SVO block, and they have 2 small hole coolant passages on the opposite side as the large passages where as last time, there was just one small hole on the opposite side...i dont know if that makes sense but i can get a picture if you would like

the holes on the gasket....you go small to big with the small holes to the front.
Your car will run hot if not.

The front coolant passages are blocked closed with the gaskets except for a couple small holes. The gaskets should be marked front. One gasket gets flipped upside down.

thats weird...
what is the path of coolant through the engine?

i just seems to me that the big holes should go in front... i guess not

how does enough coolant get back into the radiator with just those 4 little tiny holes at the front filling it back up?
