Ok, so I finally was able to get some tools up here to my school and work on my car (1988 Mustang GT). I had a tear in my power steering pressure line that was spraying fluid all over the place. I replaced the hose, but now there is fluid coming up from the bottom of the pressure line (where the metal pressure line hooks screws into the car). What could be the reason for this? Not on tight enough?

I may have figured it out....I know this is going to sound retarded, but please bear with me, how exactly should the o-ring on the pressure line go on?(sorry I've never replaced this part before) Should the O-ring go in the gap between the threads and the actual bolt?

The seal setup varies widely for the ps pressure hose to rack fitting on Mustangs.
The actual seal is the o ring that should go in a groove on the end of the tube, I think. ( I have not done one in a couple years)

My 79 vintage used a teflon o ring that has to be heated in warm water and carefully expanded to slip onto the tube. The threaded fitting does not seal any fluid, the tube end is captive inside the fitting (tube nut) and just holds the tube end and o ring into the fitting on the rack. similar at the ps pump.

If you look at it all, you should be able to figure it out. But you may need some more parts. Look closely at the old one....There are some different thread sizes, etc, etc.

Is the o-ring suppose to go there (well the one I want is on the other end of the hose, but i couldnt get a good picture of it). Click on the picture and I drew a line where I think the O-ring is suppose to go, if that makes sense.

oh and in case I need new o-rings, what are the size of the o-rings?
