A little background information: Yes, I am a high school student, but have common sense and discipline with my car. Many at my school however, do not. One kid of a certain descent got into an argument today with me about drifting, and how 'tight' it is. He said it's a waste for me to have a Stang and not drive it fast. (He has an early 90's civic, but claims to also have a 95 Saleen with a, and I quote, 5 liter v6.) Then, as I am leaving school, some one with a rice cannon on a Cavalier tries to race me around a corner, and nearly clips my backend, then proceeds to go 70 in a 45. The topper, though, is that one of the dumbest boxes of rocks I've ever seen now got a 2005 300C SRT8. Now, I'm not trying to make a double standard or anything because I admit even a GT is probably too much car for me, but I am responsible and take care of it. Hell, I've grown up around fast cars and can respect their potential. But these are kids who have no common sense and are getting high horsepower cars. Maybe if I drifted I could get my anger out...

Shorter version: lots of experiences lately with unintelligent people has left me frustrated while trying to comprehend their stupidity, their reasons for liking drifting, and their explanation of why it's a waste for me to have a GT and not break the laws with it. MN really needs to get a more accessible track to keep this activity off of the streets.

End of rant.

Kids get into worse and worse stuff these days, and in my opinion, its because they're haven't and are still not being held responsible for their actions and the consequences of their actions.

On a side note, a kid at the school I work at was shot and killed while trying to steal a car. Some guy was warming up his car, went inside, came back out to this kid in his car starting to drive off. Got his gun and starting shooting at his own car. Now...while I'm sure most of you would say he had it coming, its still sad when you know the kid and he was only 13. Shoot someone over stealing your car...that's a bit too far I'd say.

I bet if it was your 13 year old son, you might feel different. Lock him up for 20 years, whatever, but running out and shooting him over it? Next thing you know, someone backs into your car, bang bang.

Everyone is entitled to an opinion, I just feel pretty strongly I guess since I was just dealing with this today.

Anyways, sorry to hijack.

How was he to know the kid was 13? And honestly, I admit, a majority of kids these days are stupid, I see it first hand every day...but don't generalize all of us Maybe if more schools banned tag then the kids wouldn't feel so left out and inclined to do dumb s**t

You're right, guy couldn't have known it was a kid stealing his car....but such a level of violence just to protect a car. ****, just call your insurance and get a new one. I wish someone would steal my car.

I didn't mean to generalize. Just saying many kids are not held responsible, especially by parents these days.

If it was my 13-year-old son, he'd know better than to try to steal a car in the first place, for fear of a fate worse than death if his father ever found out!

I do however agree with the first part of your statement though, that kids should be held more accountable for their actions and not let off with a slap on the wrist under safety nets like "The Young Offenders Act". I'm also a firm believer of holding their parents more accountable for their actions as well. Automatic Pay Wage Garnishee and/or jail time to the parents of kids who steal or damage another persons property. You'd see the youth crime rate drop like a stone in a hurry or the parent to child ass kicking rates go through the roof. One way or the other, someone is being held accountable!

What you are experiencing is what I refer to as the curse of the Mustang. You see, everyone else on the road judges their cars by how they match up against a "fast" Mustang. Most non-Mustang drivers cannot discriminate between V-6, GT, and Cobra, etc... They see a Mustang, they want to race. Some have described it as "automatically being in a race because I am driving a Mustang".

Basically, every clueless asshat on the road is going to try and race you. I am talking even mini-van and pick up truck drivers here...

You must be the better man, do not take their bait. Just drive normally and ignore them. This is exceedingly difficult sometimes, believe me I know...

There will also be douchebags that will have the most amazingly stupid discussions with you about Mustangs and cars in general.

Unfortunately, due to the number of complete morons out there, it is hopeless to try to educate and inform any of them.

Best to just nod your head, smile, and give the occaisonal thumbs up whilst you think about that girl in your study hall, Amy, and what kind of panties she is wearing...

Legal in Texas.

Hell it's legal to shoot someone stealing your neighbors car there if your neighbor asks you to watch over his property.

Kids are dumb. When you get into your early to mid-20's you'll discover you can't stand high school kids.

I'm only 25 and can't stand any of them. Some of them are ok i guess...like the ones on stangnet

sad thing is ive got friends that are like this too they always think its odd that i drive my stang the speed limit and nothing more. I just save my racing for the track. A day at the track is a whole lot cheaper than a speeding ticket. And its not worth risking my life or someone elses for sheer fun.

Agreed. I drive a V6 and it is amazing how many cars will try to race me thinking i am a cobra or gt. I'm talking cars that could dustroll me like a kid w/ a 2002 Camaro SS that went to my high school last year. Too bad his mom gave him the car and he doesn't know anything about it...

Ha ha. I agree with you Kilgore. I was just talking w/a guy at work the other day who was saying he liked the late 80's early 90's Escort GT's w/v6's. I didn't argue, I just smiled. This same guy proceeded to tell me one day that the Holocaust never happened and that it was one big hoax. Gotta love people like that.
