I added XM to my 96 Cobra. It was a Delphi Roady XT that had to be plugged into the cigarette lighter. Then it either a) had to be tuned to a vacant FM station or b) played through a cassette adaptor. From that angle the in dash unit is a much cleaner approach. However, there were many many options on antenna install that Ford chose not to explore. Sadly, most of them were probably no more or less expensive than the miniature computer mouse look-alike that they stuck on the middle of the rear deck. My Roady XT came with a magnetic antenna that measured 1-1/4" L X 1" W X 3/4" H. It fit neatly on the black trim piece just forward of the trunk lid on my 96 Cobra Convertible, and you could hardly even notice it. And it actually privided better reception than the pimple on the center of the rear deck.

Paint maybe, but get another decklid or repair

My thought was to remove the antenna from the deck lid, then carefully prep and paint it with a non-metallic shade of Dupli-Color that closely matches the color of my car. I may end up just leaving it alone.

Thats was the HARD part, finding a car without the satin panel on the dash.

When you order the Int pkg you can get either one, I like the dark woven look in charcoal.

Here is a quick pic, not a easy color to shoot pictures:

Looks great - that vista blue would have been my first color choice.
As for that nub on the top of your trunk - I wonder if you ripped it off if the Roush spoiler would cover up the mess it left behind?

Too Bad you can't come up with a bracket to mount it on the inside of the trunk lid somehow. Out of sight, Out of mind...

If the subscription to XM or Sirius were less than $5.00, you would probably see many more people using the system.

Aint no way I'm gonna pay for darn radio. to much freebee out there.
On another note I have seen some other cars out there with a shark fin like thing on top of the cars. I'm assuming that is a sat antenna. They could have done somethin like that instead of the pimple.

That is a very good point... I too don't subsribe to a form of satellite radio. Instead, I choose to use my money for the MP3's

Still though, congratulations are in order for such a good find.

I see you have an astute financial mind as well! I stopped it long ago, cavallo. Right about the time my dad died. Realigned and redefined “Needs and Wants”. Now, I simply shake my head at the pizzed away money all in the form of perceived “needs”. Mind – I respect anyones rights to these items and do not judge. They are just not for me.

I realized years ago that we are screwed as a Nation when our own economic forecasters and the Federal Reserve Governors decided to base the health of the economy on “CONSUMER SPENDING”. You bet ya’! With Trillions amassed in defaulted consumer debts we look to the spending habits of people (most purchases including large durable goods made on credit and plastic since cash is unheard of in this credit drive society). Wooooo Whhhooooooo.

Okay… Back on topic.

Alright I asked a person with some knowlege on radio and electronics. His opinion is this. You should be able to paint it with a non-metallic (metal flake) paint. And have no degradation of signal. You can paint it with a metallic paint. However you will likely experience degradation of signal. However it may be small enough not to notice.

lol, man have you checked out any of the exhaust clips? there should be enough to make it a little easier. any mustang clubs where you llive? if so, go to a meeting and ask some of the S197 members to hear their exhaust. much better than swapping out the mufflers all the time trying to find "that sound"

Jesus Cavallo! If you need to dump any of the exhaust components that have failed your savant inclined exhaust toned eccentricities, pop me an email. I am not too proud to take hand-me-downs. I'll make those rejects work on the 6.

How is she breaking in for ya'?
