I bought new vent window frames for the Stang I'm restoring. I thought I would be saving money (looked good on paper) by buying these over having the originals re-chromed. The repos are about 1/8 in narrow over the originals pluse some of the screw holes don't line up. I paid $149/each + shipping for these "cheap" knock-offs.

To have mine re-chromed was quoted about $300 - $400 each. Why so high? So, one day I might just jerk them out and bite the bullet and have mine rechromed.

Buyer beware! You can never replace original with reproduction and expect good quality... Just my 2 pennies...

Thanks for the heads up. I'm also just about to either rechrome my vent windows or buy repro's for my '68. Where did you order your repros from?

My dad got Repros for his '65 that were a perfect fit, but I'm pretty sure he paid $500 or more for them.

I bought mine from John's Mustang (www.johnsmustang.com), but only because I had them on order from Mustangs Unlimited for about 4 months and got tired of waiting. NPD also carries them, but they too were out.

Also, the repro vent window rubber doesn't even come close to original. I'm very disapointed. I guess I'll try to find som NOS rubber now.
