I'm in the market for some aftermarket brakes. I only have two requirements at this time:

1) The stopping power is greater than stock brakes.
2) They either come with, or I will be able to paint the calipers red.
3) They are affordable, but not cheap and crappy.

That is all the information I can provide at this time. Thanks for all the help.

Yeah, $399 at buyfordracing.com. I got the bullit brakes for the wifes car, came with 13" brembo rotors, red calipers loaded, and stainless steel lines. Very nice, look awsome on the car. Getting ready to do the rear with 13" Baer rotors, should also look great.

Are you able to keep the stock wheels when upgrading to the Cobra brakes?

Since you have the Bullitt brakes can you tell me if they are the same as the Cobra?

All you would need in addition to this kit is brake fluid. It will work with your stock 17" wheels

Mach1, Cobra, bullitt all use the same brakes. 2-piston PBR's 40mm x 40mm with Brembo rotors. The above kit also comes with stainless steel lines, banjo bolts and copper crush washers

when you get the new brakes get a set of speed bleeders like this

http://www.discbrakesrus.com/make/ford/mustanggtff.htm#speed

makes bleeding your brakes a breeze.

I found a kit on Mustangs Unlimited tht has front and rear brakes but its almost $1000 now. Would it be ok to get the Cobra/Bullitt calipers for the rear with stock GT rotors? I noticed they have those calipers for only $199. I didn't see a kit anywhere for all 4 or the rear only. I really would like to eventually convert all 4 brakes to Bullitt/Cobra.

They are the same calipers as you have in the rear. If you want red rear calipers, take yours off, paint em red and there ya go...same thing.

The major difference is the rotors. This kit here can swap the GT rear brake setup to Cobra brakes keeping your existing caliper with a slight clearance modification.

And here's a write-up showing you how to install it.

I wish the buyfordracing.com site would work. I'm pretty sure the basic, unpainted version of the cobra kit goes for around $330 and you can just paint the calipers. Thats what i'm going to do as soon as i get some spare change.
