Hey Guys,
Well here she is! 1986 GT w/T's 63,000 miles, pretty clean. I had a 85' z28 with t's in high school and my boy had the jalapeno red 5.0 and i always loved his car, even stock it was alot more fun to drive...now 25 years later i own one!! :)
I am not sure where im going with the build but would like to maintain a clean stock look with just a little more power! I'm also not a huge fan of the red interior, always preferred the grey, although it is in great shape other than the headliner but i already opened up that can of worms so i might as well do the felt strips around the t's
too! which are in major need of replacing. I just can't decide whether i should go with the original red canyon vinyl from tmi or start the process of changing the color to grey? Anyway i love these cars!

ha, it definitely doesn't get more throwback than that but i'm still thinking of going grey
I am the original owner of an ‘86 GT with the red interior. I’ve always liked it. Mine has some fading on the sides of the seats facing the window glass, so if yours isn’t faded, I might take them off your hands if you go grey.

Well they're not perfect, i have some fading too. changing the interior is low on the list so who knows when, but here's some pics of them.

Its so weird that I had an 84' Z28 and now an 87 GT with T's like yours. I always liked Mustangs since the early models that my uncle owned and now have my own. As for the red interior, I am like you with preferring the grey seats etc. I don't know that I would change much outside of the seats but that's just me liking how the grey offsets the red interior.

My one piece of advice would be to mark and label everything as you work on it. Wiring, vacuum lines, and literally everything else. The repair on mine has been a real headache from the wiring disaster that the moron's did prior to me getting mine. Everything is crucial and related with electrical trust me. Good luck bud and welcome to the forum.

Thanks man, i will! also every time you you start one project it turns into five, because it's like well i better fix this too while i have everything apart.I started the t top felt and it's a pain in the ass, lmr's strips are perfectly straight not contoured to the slight curves in the molding, other than the cuts
you make at the end bends it should line up.... but nope, i wish they sold repro molding with the felt already attached i'd have an easier time lining up and drilling new holes in that than attaching this non sticky felt piece! how she sits currently.
On a positive note i did get the moulding cleaned up pretty good, that glue was a pain, just need to repaint them.
