Has anyone here gotten a new paint job and changed the color? My car just has a bunch of little dings and it has a big dent in the front passenger fender. Plus bugs have destroyed the paint on my front bumper. So about how much would you guys think I would have to hand over to go from forest green to black, plus pull all the dents out?

Yeah its going to cost anywhere between 4-6g's to change the color and do the bodywork. Try not to go cheap with it....any extra money you spend on a paint job is money well spent.

$2K isn't bad at all, if the job includes a good bit of prep work before putting on the stock color. I'd pay that if my car came out looking just like it did brand new back in 1994. I'm talking no dings, dents and a showroom finish.

I would think that a ford dealer could do a better than average job at repainting a car. I've got a dark green stang and would be interested in a total repaint of the stock color once I get the new bumpers and hood.

Anyone had issues with a repaint at a ford dealer?

Its really a hit or miss wherever you go. Im sure some ford dealers turn out awsome work, but i know of a couple here that couldn't paint their way out of a paper bag.

Try to find a shop that has a good reputation. Ask around.

All the paint from my buddies front bumper was chipping off after he got it repainted at the ford dealership. The only way paint job prices are reasonable is if you know someone that can handle a spray gun. Like me, I'll be getting a full color change for free minus materials.

I went from red to a custom blue for $3k. It was a friend of friend, so he gave me deal. Just try to stay away from body shops and find someone that does it as a side job out of their garage.

I spent $5900+ Canadian having my car color changed and adding racing stripes. That also included a new rear bumper, and dew wipes. Plus preping a fiberglass hood and an aftermarket spoiler. I had mine done at a dealer. I also did all of the dissassembly in my garage and then had the car towed there. Have to pull engine, bumper covers, lights door panels rocker sills, rad, a lot of stuff under the hood, inner fenders, glass, any other trim pieces, fenders, sail panels mirrorsand lots of small stuff I can't remember. It is a ton of work. It was a six week project. I am very happy with the outcome. Would I do it again? Not in a thousand years. Here are some pics of the process. Probably scare you off the subject.

And before you tell me to lower the car
It only looks that way because the engine and most of the stuff under the hood is out of the car.
