ok, i bought this starter http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/e...m=320002411059&ih=011&sspagename=STRK:MEWN:IT off ebay. its a little different then my stock one on my 87. off of the smaller of the two cylinders are two studs with nuts on them- the one has an electrical cord that it is holding down under the nut, the other is unoccupied. then there is another prong that almost looks like the power hookup for a car speaker. which do i hook it up to?> i tried the empty stud and that didnt work

I would recommend a search about retrofitting mini starters.

Good luck.

There are a few threads on this subject...

The basic idea is that you need to move the stock starter wire from the solenoid to the + battery term, and run a new trigger wire from the solenoid to the "new" connection on the starter.

Yep - I mentioned searching because people have posted schematics in their old posts - pictures are nice if someone is not familiar with how the circuit works. Jrichker (for one) posts a schematic which is helpful.

Good luck.

i figured it out- the little plug that looks like the speaker plug is for a selenoid with a separate power cable, and the empty stud is for the cable that is on a stock starter, all i have to do it bridge those two together and itll work
