Progress Thread New To Me 96 Gt And A Couple Of Questions

Thanks for sharing man, I like reading your thread. Sometimes replacing old worn out parts is more rewarding than adding more power... I mean its never bad to add power but a car that feels solid definitely is more important to me. I'm glad you saved this car, a lot of guys would have written it off.

Thank ya thank ya... A solid car is definitely more important to me as well and replacing stock parts with stock parts mite not be as glorious as bolting on a supercharger BUT regaining lost power is still power gained in my book LOL

On a side note if you think this car is bad you should of seen my last Camaro now that was a real old skool ZERO F**KS GIVEN kind of a car :jester:

Some good news I finally got ahold of my buddy that builds foxbodys and he agreed to help me install my 4.10s this weekend ill mostly be flying solo but i'll have excess to his tools and his brain so if everything goes to plan I can cross that off the list but sins nothing ever goes quite to plan ill probably be done with it next weekend LOL

"Its all good" If I were going to the drag strip every weekend I mite worry about it but sad to say i'm more likely to run a friend on the street for s**ts and giggles just part of working 2nd I guess anyway somewhere out there there's a PI swap just waiting for this car and a set of cams to go along for the ride LOL

Figured it had to be something stupid "Allways is" probably something in the wiring I thought...

When I got her home I started cutting tape and tracing wires back from the alternator and found this crap

All fixed up AGAIN and working.... KEEP THIS IN MINED although I got this car from what I would best describe as a chop shop in the middle of the hood it was still a licensed business with a lot full of customers cars waiting on repairs... I can't even imagine the crap they've probably sent out there door...

Started on the diff

Out of all the things that could of gave me trouble the damn ABS sensors were what took the longest the bolts were rusted up and the sensors themselves were corroded in place so long story short I need new ABS sensors in the rear LOL

MORE TO COME

Made it to my buddy's house and he helped me get the 4.10 ring and pinon prepped he was also the Master Rebuilder for 13 years at the Aamco I used to work at so he filled up my head with some useful tips. Luckily he was also doing gears in a 8.8 for a Fairmont he just picked up so he already had everything ready. Surprisingly for my first gear install everything went smooth on the and I didn't F anything up. LOL

Somewhere there's some buddy thats going to give me crap for this but I reused the factory shims. I put them back in for a reference point and checked them with the dial indicator all was good so I put the marking compound on and it was right on SO I said F*it I could mess with the new shims all day long and not get them nearly that close plus they were already in for the reference...

Last look before it gets covered up

So anyway I let the car idle on jackstands for about 30 min and went for a drive. Everything is sweetness no leaks, no grinds, no shimmys, and no shakes except for the speedo being off and the RPM going up you cant tell I ever touched it... Needless to say i'm pretty happy :D

Went to Import Face-Off today with a buddy of mine I left the Mustang at home and we went in his SAAB because IMPORT FACE-OFF imagine my surprise when we got there and Mustangs made up about 30% of the show who knew...

Got a new 23 tooth speedo gear... For my trans this gear is really for 3.73's but it as big as I can go Ford dose not even make a 23 tooth gear to do this swap...

Here's the old 21 tooth gear right before I installed the new 23 tooth gear... The speedo is now 5mph off in town instead of 10mph and 10mph off on the highway instead of 20mph guess the next step is to get the Cobra drive gear witch should get it the rest of the way...
