Thanks Alloy.

Yeah I do like it. I was a little apprehensive about having it done to be honest, but I am glad I did.

I asked questions recently about this very process and got little response. I am assuming the leather fits the cloth seats without any problems? Did you use some of the take-off leather available?
How much did it cost you to have someone install it?
I'm considering this but would like some idea as to the difficulty and the cost. Thanks.

The leather Does fit nicely, but as you can see in the pics there are some spots that are not real tight especially in the back left seat. These are not take offs. The guys at ASC removed the cloth are reupholstered the seats. IMO the leather is better quality than the OEM take offs, but that is just opinion I am not a leather expert (what ever that is) I had a 01 GT and the leather in it was not top quality. This feels and looks better than the 01 GT; time will tell if it is as durable. I have no idea of the difficulty because I had someone else do it, but it took them 2 days to do it.

As for price, it came in just shy of a grand, but because I went through the dealer, and I am sure they took their cut,, I am sure better deals are out there. Oh well lesson learned....I just had to have leather.

EDIT: Oops I may have misspoke, I am not sure if the cloth came off or not, sorry!

Okay I just checked and the cloth did in fact come out before the leather went on the seats. This is why I had someone else do this stuff. Engines I can do, interiors, forget about it!

Looks nice 01ragtop Much better than the cloth for sure!!!!!
If those few spots give you trouble, don't hesitate to take it back and have them fix them! Being loose like that may cause it to wear faster.

By dealer, do you mean a Ford dealer for the leather or someone else? $1,000 doesn't sound bad to me, considering Ford's retail cost just for the leather. Did you have the option of a two-tone seat? Would that have cost more?
Looks great, by the way.

Yes I did mean the Ford Dealer. The Ford dealer gave me the option of the stock leather or the one I got. They recommended these because they thought they were better. I did not ask about two tone, but I think it can be done. I know I could have gotten the perforated inserts like the stock GT, but I decided not to because my old GT had it and it was hard to get the leather cleaner out of the holes.

Do you know specifically what the Ford dealer sold you? I'm surprised that a Ford dealer has something other than stock Mustang leather seats to sell.

the dealer probably sublets their work like this to a reputable upholstry shop. a very common occurence.

Most people don't realize that only part of the stang seat is leather. It's vinyl and leather combo. Best thing I ever did was getting the red interior, I get more comments on that than the whole car.

Only the seat fronts are leather. Not to mention the lower part on the side against the center console, which is fabric to better resist abrasion damage.

My Dealer sublet it out to a Company called ASC. (the Sunroof and Convertible Company that also designs cars, Think Grand National) Anyway I had no dealing with them. I told the Dealership what I wanted, and they made it happen.

Stan:

You should look into Katzkin. I think you can custom order just about anything you want as far as two tone, perforated, embroidery, etc. Good luck!
