Id go with the Supercharger. I might offend some guys but i think nitrous is sorta like cheating. With the S/C the power is always there. No refilling. My vote goes for a S/C

How is nitrous cheating? .. isnt a power adder same as a turbo or blower???? Most people are scared of nitrous... I dont have a problem with either one I help a friend put a Vortech on his 02 GT and it works great for him... I've got a Paxton Novi1000 and Im going with nitrous instead.. search for some dyno sheets on a 5.0 with a 100shot look at the HP and more important the torque you want... compare it to one with a Novi1000...

I'm going to vote for a blower. I don't have either, so have no experience, but I went through the same thing you went through trying to decide.
In my book constant power is great whether you are cruising or racing. It feels great having the power right there always at the push of a pedal. I don't want to deal with getting a bottle refilled and frankly I got barely any trunk room as it is.

This conversation really makes me want to slap that blower on, but I gotta hold back and do some suspension and other things first.

Nitrous doesn't take up all the room in your motor compartment and It has better wieght trasfer because the bottle is in the back. The blower has all the wieght up front.
Also, because a blower is always making boost it's actually harder on a engine.Blowers also require larger amount's of fuel and so they use more gas all the time.Nitrous is a short burst of power when you want it.Plus, nitrous is adjustable by changing jets. With blowers you have to change pulleys and belts whitch also wear-out so blowers also require some maintanance. With blowers you can't put them on a different engine either, they require different brackets. The same nitrous system can be used on almost any car.Plus if you got a nice cam in your car and it sounds good, why would you want to cover it with the wind of a blower?Sure it sounds cool on some stuff but i think it would get anoying after a while. Also eveyone knows you got a supercharger when they hear it.I kinda like it when you flick the switch and the car goes from mean to just plain nasty too.

The only other thing I would use is nitrous on a turbo setup.
For the price of the S/C I would rather give my N/A power a boost.
Also, a 150 shot is nothing for a 5.0. I've seen guys hit 250 on them and go run after run after run and still keep on going with no problems.A long as you got a good tuner to help you, you would be much more satisfied with the power of the juice. A 100-150 shoot will make that think fly.

You are overlooking a big thing, when it comes time to refill. You can refill your bottle 25 times to make up the extra cost of the blower(1000 difference,$40a fill).

What?!? There is only $1,000 difference between a blower and nitrous? Last time I checked the Zex kit I want was about $500...and a Vortech blower is around $3000-$4000.

I agree, in my OPINION nitrous is better. I've run a best of 12.09 with a 150 shot and my buddies coupe with an S-trim(pullied for 9+ lbs),anderson power pipe, ported gt -40x heads, intake etc, can only run a best of 12.17. I run more mph, and faster with stock ported heads. Neither of our cars have been dyno tuned and mine is faster with N2O.I cant wait to try the 175 shot pill!!!!!
Of course a blower is also handy because the power is always there. But it all depends on what you want. My buddy likes to street race and rag on his car often so having the blower benefits him. I like to cruise my car with the A/C, hear the rumble of the cam, and I only race on occassions at our local track so I don't always need the bottle.I also gave up on street racing,if someone wants to race, we set a date to meet at the track! So its just a matter of what you want and how you will use the car!!

I've used both. In fact I just removed my injection and blower set up from my race car in favor of a carb and a plate unit. Nitrous is more cost effective and a lot easier to install. Also, when it comes time to part with your power adder, or whole car for that matter, you stand to lose a lot less money on the unit. If you drive hard a blower will greatly accelerate the wear on your motor while nitrous will simply grenade the whole thing if you make a boo-bo....or at least melt some stuff. It is also true that you need a lot less extra "stuff" to effectively bolt on a small unit. It also depends on your budget. Also, for all you blower guys- don't forget that every now and then you have to rebuild your supercharger. They do not last forever. It probably negates the price of the actual nitrous refilling. Anyway, for raw power the nitrous is a better investment but a blower is safer and more consistent. If you rarely go to the track a blower will serve you better. On the street nitrous is not the greatest. How often are going to crack the bottle open when that occasional Z06 or Viper messes with you in traffic?

I paid around $1700 for my complete kit shipped to my door. Dont know where you get prices but I would seriously check around.

And for the topic, If you race a lot. Get a blower....but if your the here and there racer. My vote goes for nitrous, but a few items that a kit needs to help with safety will bring the price up too. I would have went with nitrous but I dont have any fill up stations close. So I got the next best thing I could afford.

I'd really like to have a S/C,but nitrous is probably the route I'll take once I get my engine done. The whine of a blower is definately intimidating, but you'll have folks wanting to run you all the time just to see how fast it is,and get unwanted attention from Johnny Law.

Nitrous,on the other hand, can be totally hidden from view by a patient installer. The bottle doesn't necessarily HAVE to go in the hatch area in plain view,or in the trunk, for that matter. A good place for it,if you rarely haul rear seat passengers,as in my case,is directly behind the driver's seat. It can have the safety port run down through a drain hole grommet in the floor, can be easily reached by the driver to turn the bottle on or off,and can be covered up with a towel,or a shirt or something similar for a totally stealth install.

Stealth is where it's at!

I wasn't talking about the cheapest 5-6 psi blowers. I just checked Jegs. $2500 for an 8-10 psi Vortech and about another $1000 for one with an aftercooler. That's where I'm coming from. The stuff I have laid out to get for my nitrous kit are the kit, bottle warmer, purge, RPM switch, gauges, blow down tube and some other stuff. And I'll still be under $900 for ALL of it.

Turbo all the way but seriously.....between s/c and nitrous I would go with nitrous for better power. If you are more interested in sound while driving I would go S/C.

Ive had both, one with a 125 shot and the other with a holley roots type......go with a roots style or twin screw supercharger.....you can still have a kick of horsepower at lower rpms and the boost practically all hits at once between 2000 - 2500 rpms. after you have nitrous, you WILL want the power on tap and neverending. ALSO everyone will talk **** if you have nitrous, because it is easy and everyone can do it with little knoledge and money.
