Hi I recently purchased a 1999 mustang and I'm having issues with getting it to go in drive. It will go in reverse but no forward gear. Please all help is greatly appreciated.
Manual or automatic? Has it never managed drive since you owned it? Does it get to drive after a lot of effort? Just 'doesn't go into forward' is too ambigious to really start building an idea of what might be wrong.
I purchased the car and was fully aware of the issue. When I try to put automatic in drive or low 1 or 2 it acts as if it is in neutral and doesn't feel like it engages through shifter
I would first get under the car, jack stands and wheel chocks in place of course, and check that the shift cable is moving the lever on the trans all the way to drive and first gear.
I was able to check the transmission fluid yesterday and it's reading in the cold range after running for 5 minutes. I also was able to look underneath the car and I noticed that the transmission is leaking
