Hey all happy holidays! I have a 2000GT with a Kenne Bell super charger 70,000 miles....20,000 since the sc. The car has been fine for the last 5 years all of a sudden I have no fuel pressure, therefore the car won't start. I checked all fuses (including the boost a pump one), bypassed the inertia switch just in case, and using a volt meter checked the brown/pink wire going to the fuel tank..I get 10-12 volts for a few seconds when the ignition is turned on. I can't hear the fuel pump turn on...but honestly because of the water cooler and sc turning on at ignition..it's hard to tell. I've pretty much decided it's the pump....but wanted to hear your thoughts if I overlooked anything...should these pumps cut out after 70,000 miles...I've never let it get below 1/4 tank and have always used 91-100 octane. Do they just go..with no warning signs? Thanks any info would be greatly appreciated!!!

I have helped a couple of ppl lately with no-start issues. Turned out to be anti-theft (PATS). The OP didn't think that a flashing anti-theift light was important enough to mention in the original post.

So before going into a lot of questions, let's hit the easy obvious stuff.

Is your theft light flashing?

Remember the 1999-2004 PATS system will disable the fuel pump and injectors. The results will be crank with no start. This is different from the 1996-1998. These year cars will not crank.

Sorry, forgot to mention that I ruled that out first...light turns off after 3 secs when ignition is turned on.

If you are seeing +12 voltage on the BN/PK wire for 3-5 seconds at initial key on, and still no fuel pressure, I agree with the diagnosis. Bad fuel pump.

But to be completely through, disconnect the electrical connector to the fuel pump. Inject 12 volts to the RD/BK and BN/PK wires. This will power the pump only. Listen for the pump to run. It should be easier with nothing else on.

I can not remember which wire is positive (BN/PK is positive if I had to guess). If connected backwards, the pump will run backwards. However, since we are doing a minimum functionality test, it won't matter.

If we wish to take it a step further and measure FP, the polarity will have to be correct.

Just wondering, how FP is being measured?

As far as other things that can cause low FP, clogged filter, Clogged pick up sock, Trash/water in the bottom of tank, injector stuck open (should smell fuel), electrical problem (ruled out), and bad fuel pump.

That's a great idea...never though of just putting 12 volts to the pump conector by itself. I'm measuring FP with an auto meter fuel gauge inside the car...but it's the one that does it with out piping gas into the car.

Ok here's the crazy thing...I put 12vlts to the pump..nothing happened...I released...made contact again to the source (12 volt battery) and boom, it kicked on and ran. I then proceeded to put the battery back in the car. Turn the ignition, had fuel pressure, car started, drove the car 1 hour, added gas, fuel pressure is 20-22 while idle, then increases upon accleration as normal upto 40-60 when in heavy boost. It appears to be starting fine now..possible block in line? Fuel filter change time? Pump going bad?

Are you a "glass half full" or a "glass half empty" sort of person?

If half full, how about "dirty electrical connection"?

If half empty, how about weak fuel pump? Will go out again later.

Well...I'm a half-full type of person...but also a realist when it comes to life...(as in hope for the best but prepare for the worst). Good thing it's not a daily driver :}

Great post - I'd have to think it was a dirty or loose connection. Ensure that puppy is tight and cross thy fingers.
