noise when starting...

I figured I would get a quick answer here. I hadn't started my stang in awhile and tried to do it last night. I turned the ignition and it just clicked. Is it the starter or altinater? I don't think it's the battery because the dome light was on nice and bright and the chimes were going.

Ususally that clicking will be the starter cylnoid (spelling) thingy on the firewall. It is right up from the battery. I would start there and make sure all your connections are good. Next would be the starter.

Turn on your headlights and see if they burn brightly. Then hit the starter and see if they go dim. If so your battery is bad, or the connections are bad. The dome light doesnt tell you much, unless it goes real dim when you hit the starter. If it passes this load test, jump the two big terminals on the solenoid together with a screwdriver, JUST MAKE SURE ITS NOT IN GEAR OR IT MAY RUN OVER SOMETHING.

Usually that ticking just lets you know, that your battery doesn't have enough juice to turn the motor over. Throw the battery on a charger for a while, and try that.
