I am having a horrible problem with my car. When I turn a corner, the car does not turn back to straight. Also, when I hit the brakes hard the car pulls to the right. I have been told the steering problem could be the rack and pinion. I replaced it and no change. The car had caster camber plates on it when I bought it. I recently brought it to a shop to get it aligned after the rack and pinion was replaced and it still does the same thing. The mechanic said there is something wrong with the caster camber plates. He said the struts are moving in the plates and this is the problem. Could this be true or is this guy BS'n me. I have no problem buying new caster camber plates, but will this fix the issue? And if I replace the plates, can I adjust them myself? Could there be anything else? Bushings? Any help would be GREAT!!! This is driving me crazy, I am starting to hate the car because of it.

Thanks!!
Doug

id jack the car up yourself and check to see if any control arm bushings or tie rod bushings are gone....causing one of the wheels to sort of slop over when your turn or brake. or jack the car up and grab hold of the front wheel and shake it back and forth and see if you can feel any movement and have someone watch the c/c plate to see if its actually moving

A lack of caster can definately affect the centering effect. But other issues can affect this.

I am with ECU about just checking things over.

Good luck.
