I have decided to put some mods on my car. I have almost collected everything i need for a PI swap but that wont be done for a while. I want to ditch the stock mid pipe with a O/R H-pipe. The car only has a set of flowmaster 3 chambers and I want to see if removing the stock mid pipe will make the car sound a little better cuz right now it sounds weak. I know when I went to a O/R H-pipe on my Fox it sure made a difference even before the headers went on. Anyone got any sound clips?

NPI cars may be down on power but they sound better than the PI cars, IMO.

This is quite possible depending on your preference. When i put ported PI heads on + cams, it smoothed out a lot and got a little deeper in tone. Smooth as in downshifting to a stop with foot off gas before would crackle and burble, now just is a declining exhaust tone.

I've got an offroad H on stock mufflers and it sounds great. It will be quite a bit louder. In fact, with my stock mufflers, it is about perfect and any louder would be too loud.
I do enjoy the way my 97 gurgles when decelerating in gear. I'm not sure if the PI engines do that or not.

Ok, I will check the sound clips out. I like the input but I have an auto, so that will make a diff in sound I bet. PI cars have slightly more aggressive cams so i figured the better stock sound was natural for them, I guess I am just used to my Fox's full exhaust on ported heads and cam sound!!!

Anyone know what the easiest O/R H to install is? I know on Fox Mustangs the Mac's were the best but I heard 4.6's were a little more of a challenge!

They should all be about equal on installation. The hardest part of the job is always getting the stocker off. The header bolts are at a funny angle, so a swivel extension is helpful, though I did mine without.

Soak the bolts/nuts in pb blaster before you ever touch them just to make sure u don't snap a header stud off. 30 mins will do just fine.

Will do. I got a great assortment of air tools so I do not think getting the old one off will be a problem.
