I got a good one for u guys ,,, do the o2's on a 87 to 93 reading like the 4.6 o2's. What I am meaning is do they take readings the whole time or just at start up.... please let me know how these things work on this 5.0

thanks

To my understanding, the O2's on an OBD-I 5.0L stang do read at all times. However, their info is not used by the computer to trim fuel until they light off. And being HEGO's, they take 30-120 seconds to light off from a cold start up.

On fox III's, the O2's are ignored at WOT, whereas on 5.0L Fox IV's, their input is utilized at WOT.

We dont have the secondary O2's (number 3 and 4) to monitor the efficiency of the emissions components, like the OBD-II mod-motor cars have.

And all O2's are used once the car is warmed up - some just dont use the info at start up. Your phrasing has that backwards.

Good luck.

Hissin,
I was under the impression that even on the EECIV 5.0's - the O2's are NOT used on WOT. Am I wrong on this ?

Um, foxes are 5.0L EEC-IV - I think you are talking about 94-95's (fox IV's). From what I gather (my interpretation of Mr. Wesley's articles, lookin at lambda readings during datalogging [and seeing the values walk] and reading posts, that is my take). I am pretty sure of it, but you could read the articles or just ask Grady (the 5.0L SN95 TwEECer guru IMHO).

If he tuned the car dont they look at the air/fuel ratio so they know how to modify the tune? If the 02s werent hooked up I dont see how the tuner could tune it properly?...
