I have replaced the shifter knob on a automatic 2002. I am unable to get the OD button to work. Can someone tell me what needs to happen for this to work?

BJE:

Sounds like the wires may have been broken or the connection has come apart. They are pretty delicate and easily injured when removing the stock knob. I suggest that you check the spliced connections (if you made any), the connection plugs first. If you touch the two wires together, the OD should toggle on/off each time the wires are touched. Check the owner's manual to see if there is a fuse associated with the OD switch. It may have popped during the changeover. If all of these check out OK, then there must be a wire fault and you may need a new switch/wire from the Ford parts guy.

Please post back with whatever you find out.
