I dunno, someone's got to pass along these Net urban legends. From roadandtrack.com, who claims a "world exclusive," here's a pic of the Camaro Concept, unveiled at the Detroit Auto Show:

Here's a link: http://www.roadandtrack.com/article.asp?section_id=15&article_id=3124
6 liters, 400 hp, 6-spd, 110.5" wheelbase, 186" overall length. R & T says "the new Camaro could launch as a 2009 model," which I guess means October '08.

In other words, 2.5 YEARS later than this:

BTW, which do you like better, the GM Concept or the Kris Horton stuff? Horton is this teenage whiz kid whose computer renderings of a fifth gen Camaro have been featured by Popular Hot Rodding over the past couple years. Here's his most recent:

This retro muscle car trend is like a horse galloping full speed through the middle of town and everybody is running out trying to throw a saddle on it before its gone.

It looks that way because of the low roof line (chopped top), we all know that since it is a concept the low roof line will never reach production.

I like them it makes the real thing look better IMHO. Heck I would own a new Cararo or the Challenger. Just look at it this way if you kill it nothing lost.

Just makes you wonder whether history will repeat. It's almost like the 60s all over again. Will there be a huge musclecar era and then gas prices skyrocket, (or the EPA outlaws cars with more than 200 hp) leading to the return of the Mustang II and other anemic grease (or H2) powered cars?

I love the kid's concept. Generic Motors needs to do a little more work, though. Frankly I'd love to see the whole rainbow of musclecars reappear. Competition is good for everyone, especially we car-lovers!

I think the new camaro is absolutely hideous. I kind of like the challenger, though.

Challenger looks good. I like how the quarter panels rise up a notch like that. Wish ford did the same to the '05s instead of a smooth quarter design, they should've gone with the '64-66 style where it steps up a notch.

There is definatly corvett styling in the camero, I like the other camero desine as well. Im just afraid of the price, BTW how much are the new stangs going for in yer neckathawoods? here the GT's are going for 31-34K!!! Truth be told, I think I like the factory look of the new camero(s) better than the factory look of the latest mustangs

the new stang kicks ass and the new challenger possibly kicks even more ass, the camaro? it's good to see GM is trying to get back in the game and this car doesn't look all that bad especially considering that it is only a concept. i can see they left themselves quite a bit of room to play with the production design too, but i agree with everyone, for the most part, that it just looks unfinished or unrefined

i need to win the lottery for sure now, though, so i can have a new stang and a new challenger. i'll take my mustang in the new blue color, vista blue and the challenger will have to be black on black with a flat black hood.

Otherwise, looks like the new Challenger.

I like em' both, the Challenger more than the Camaro. My wife already wants a Challenger, if they get their reliabilty up maybe we'll buy one? Thats a huge IF though.
