Turns out they were just doing a background check on a person (criminal?) that lived in my area.

the person in question may have applied for the FBI. it's standard procedure in alot of jobs for the government.

This is pretty starndard for a security clearance for the military or other govt jobs. The FBI visited a few of my friends and even former teachers when I got mine.

It's not necessarily criminal... my husband has military clearance and they did an extensive background check on him first...
