In my opinion from what i have seen, h-pipes sound better and are good for more torque, although im an x-pipe man my self, i like both lol

The X pipe will be very raspy sounding, the H pipe gives you more of a deep rumble, I had a Bassani X and switched to the pypes H. If you dont have a tuner to turn off the rear O2s you will need the mils, you can get them both from brenspeed.

http://www.brenspeed.com/mustang_2005/

also some good sound files here of the H pipe

http://www.brenspeed.com/info/media/hwithflows.wmv it is the 5th one down under sound files i believe.

it is the american thunder mufflers. you can call them and verify if you want, brent is very helpful.

thanks guys. i believe we might go with the X pipe though. my wife wants that raspy sound, not the deep rumble. do you think i will be ok with the stingers and an X pipe, or should i switch to a chambered muffler too?

Are H pipes bolt on or do they have to be welded. I live in Cali and would have to put the cats back on when I need to get smogged.

If you plan on going with an X pipe ? make certain that you DO NOT use a chambered muffler otherwise the sound will end up being too raspy and will also change the exhaust note to a higher pitched tinny sound as well...Therefore X pipes are best recommended for straight through design mufflers such as the FRPP/Borla stingers, Magnaflow, SLP loudmouths Pypes violators and Corsa's where on the other hand chambered mufflers are best recommended for H pipes or MAC off road Prochambers..

i would go h-pipe personally. i hate that high raspy sound of the x-pipe on these cars. It sounds crappy as he11. its a V8 not a 4cyl. make that thing roar like a lion, not sing like a bee.

Kooldawgs car sounds sweet. that is a tough sounding car. lows an h-pipe. just what i want.

BTW, kooldawg, if you have 4.10's your speedo is off. your speedo read like 52 in 2nd at 6200, 75 at 6200 in 3rd. you should more around 95 in 3rd with 4.10. you were hitting top of 4th barely at 100. unless i am not seeing it right.

I believe you are seeing it wrong. My speedo is pretty much dead on(using the SCT tuner for the 4.10s plus almost identical tire revs per mile as well since the SCT goes in increments of 5). All the speeds are in 1 gear lower than you mentioned. The very first drop off from 6000 RPM to around 5500 RPM is when the tires finaly starting hooking near the end of 1st gear.
I can't wait to get to the track! Comparing this clip to the one with just the Flows is amazing! The Flows only clip is 14 seconds long while the one with the H pipe, CAI/tuner and 4.10s is only 12 seconds long.

Thanks man! I wasn't around in the 60s to witness the original "muscle car" days, but the sound and power of mine sure makes me feel like I am!

What Xpipe are you going with...??? I got a deal on the Bassani X with high flow cats on Ebay and it really woke the car up. I use to have the FRPP stingers...swapped them out for the SLP LM's...the sound wasn't loud enough for me. Might be good for your wife though if she wants an aggresive sounding exhaust thats not to loud. If she wants loud, go with the LMs. Here's the Bassani X that I got...
