Oil level on 06 GT w/400 miles on it...

Just for the hell of it I just checked my 06 GT's oil, it has about 400 miles on it. Its about 2/3 up the crossedhatch part of the dip stick. Now the car has been sitting for about an hour and half since its last drive. Should I be worried since its not to the full hole? Maybe because its had too much time to cool off since last running it?

did you ever check it before? it may have been just under full the whole time. 6 quarts is about 1/2 way between the crosshatches.

The official answer is that if it is within the cross hatched area then it is ok.
you are actually supposed to have the specified measured amount of oil in the engine, not necessarily filled right up to the max line

I had to add a quart to mine before the 1st oil change ( 3000 miles) It hasn't used anymore since.

Thanks guys for the info. I havent seen a car before that wasnt topped off from the factory.
I will keep an eye on it, though.

I have see cars that are low on trans fluid from the factory.

Low on oil

My GT came that way,too. It freaked me out cause I thought it was burning oil. I took it to the Dealer and they topped it off and marked the dipstick before I left in it on a trip..........luckily it wasn't burning oil but Ford otta not do that to folks!
