So i was up under the car putting the o/r h-pipe back on after i was done with the C/C plates. there was oil all over the freakin place. i'm look around for where it was coming from. i found it to be from the oil pan gasket. it pushed out from pan seal. I loosened up that side of the pan a bit, pushed it back in, and shoved in some black silicone stuff. pretty much the whole drivers side as best i could with it. I tightened it all back up. I haven't checked for any leaking yet, but will this hold? and for how long?

it looks like the passenger's side was done like this before. there is grey stuff all along the seam. I never noticed it until today. I really really really don't want to have to pull the motor for that. but if i have to does felpro or somebody else make a better oil pan gasket than a stock ford one? is it worth replacing the whole pan with a better larger one? anything else info wise would be helpful.

I used the cork Fel-Pro oilpan gasket when it re did the motor...layed a small bead of RTV around the pan and did it up....no leaks at all...
Your fix may work??? those surfaces have to be clean for even RTV to bite and hold..

I think youll find that Felpro makes all Fords gaskets....least they were all Felpro in the engine kit I got from FRPP catalog...

My car was in bad, bad shape when my Dad bought it as a daily-ride back in 98. One of the problems was a bad OPG. He jacked the motor up sky high and was able to fish the old one out and put a new one in. I just did the same about 2 months ago to a 90 Crown Vic. with a 5.0.

My point - it can be done with the motor in the car.

For gaskets, I'd for for whatever is cheaper. I think Fel Pro makes (most of) Ford's gaskets. Maybe someone else could verify because I'm not totally sure.
