yep, it's time I did my obligatory charging problems thread.

so since I got my new motor in, 1100 miles ago, the charge gauge would on occasion shoot all the way up and all my dummy light would pop on and my headlights would get really bright. So first I'd piss myself, then I'd regroup and think of a plan, usually tighten the negative battery clamp. Now I've had problems before.. a few years back I fried my ground strap and it jumped the gap, melting my oil filter, so now, I have a new groundstrap on the drivers side motor mount.

anyways, so heres the issue, sometimes at a light I'd hear a bonk, it dawned on me that it was the motor mount so today I got undert he car and tightened it (this is the one with the grounds on it.) NOW the ****ing thing is freaking out on me multiple times per trip! on my way to work today it happened like 5-8 times, and on my way back about 4 times, keep in mind this is a 2 mile trip.

any of you guys run into this one? the gauge goes all the way up, and my lights get real bright and all my dummy's turn on.

-sorry for long post!!!

Replace the block to battery strap. I had two weeks wasted because of a stupid ground strap.

ok so here's an update, I added a groundstrap from my driverside cylinderhead to the firewall, and moved teh block to frame ground to teh otherside of the motormount so it wasn't sharing the same bolt as the battery to block. doesn't freak out as much but it still does! damnit, I blew out my headlights tonight. so I bought new headlights and a battery to block ground. my battery is also ****ed I think, it has a bunch of gooey **** ont he negative terminal, I'm assuming that it's battery acid. plus when my charging system freaks out it makes this humming sound from near the battery. I'm gonna chekc over my alternator tomorrow before work.
