Opinions on Holley SysteMax II kit

i was wondering what you guys think of this kit http://store.summitracing.com/egnse...searchinresults=false&N=115&Ntt=HLY-300-501-1 ...can similar horsepower (350 they claim) be made cheaper with different parts? If anyone has this kit, say something about it. What is this kit missing, besides valve covers?

i should be able to do this without pulling the motor right? the cam is all im really worried about

I have the holley systemmax upper and lower pleniums. Holley TB and EGR spacer. Breathes good. If you do get one make double sure you get the splash guard installed properly in the lower plenium below the pcv hole. Dunno about the heads tho , have Darts on mine. My cam is a custom grind. Oh my engine builder said " That the openings on the holley lower plenium, to the cylinder heads, are actually larger than advertised." also .

In a MMFF mag, they did a review on it, and I think it made something like 317 hp out of a 306. I'd say thats pretty stout for a n/a plain 306.

Get the TFS kit, the heads are better, it comes with valve covers and roller rockers.

On average I've seen these kits put down 270's-to mid 290's with a good tune, to the wheels....add 15 percent and that will give you your fly wheel horsepower. Very decent complete kit that can be installed with the motor in car. Any tried and true combination will put down excellent numbers...but your not going to see much over 300-320 even with the best setups at 302/306 CI in na form.

That kit with a AFM N-61 cam yielded me 11.7 @ 117MPH on my old 8.8:1 comp NA 302 set-up.

The newer style Holley heads are great, people give them a bad rap because of the geometry issues the first ped mount heads had, they fixed alot with the newer style heads.

The TFS kit is also very nice and hard to beat for what you get it is pretty much a complete top end package. The kit is around $2200..... I use it on a lot of customers motor's since the package is very cost effective.

i bought my car with the kit on there. i have 70 mm TB and 30#injectors (which people say are too big). i hear the cam isnt the best for it. top end power is much better than bottom end power. when you hit 3 grand though, it really pulls. i had a chip tuned for my car and it helped a lot for me. ive ran a 13.1 NA at 105 with a 2.0 60' and 12.8 at 114 with 100 shot on this system. I LIKE THE SYSTEMAX II KIT.

no, regular is fine. however I had a chip burned and he said he burnt it as if i was using premium gas, which i still dont and it runs fine. he thinks i could be slightly faster using it, but who knows!
