I am going to get a new battery tonight. Is the optima worth the 150.00 that it costs or should I go with something else?

I have a red top and so far I'm quite impressed. I wish I forked out the money for a yellow top though. If you have a heavy stereo or drain your battery alot then a yellow top is the last battery you will buy. If you just need a good battery the red top at about 100 bucks is worth it.

Definetly worth the extra money. Get the yellow top battery, its a deep cycle. I've got one in my car and love it. I use to go through batteries like crazy. At least one a year. I've had this one for probably about 8 years. If it does go dead just charge her back up.

I have one but it's not keeping a charge right. The old interstate one worked great forever.

I'm going to take it back to autozone and see if they will give me another one. I will go with a dyna-batt eventually just because.

Edit: I believe my optima developed a memory. It's jacked up.

I've had a generic autozone battery in my car since 01 and its still goin strong. In fact all of our cars have had generic autozone batteries and now one has lasted less than 7 years.

I've sworn off Optima Red tops forever. The one I have in my 95 works great, but two out of three where junk. One blew up for no reason spewing acid all over my battery box in the trunk. Was smoking hot for a day or two sitting on the ground. The other one was dead when I got it, so I charged it up and it was dead in the morning. Last battery I bought was a autozone special and works great. IMO 2 out of 3 optimas being junk, means I won't buy another.

I like the claim that they don't leak acid.

I've been using a Yellow Top, and I've had no problems.

After I acquired my Stang, I removed the old battery, and a bunch of stuff underneath it was corroded, from the old battery, which was not an Optima.

Hopefully, the Optima will not corrode stuff, like normal batteries do.

I run 2 in my Powerstroke as well. Good batteries.

However, I run the Optima Red Top 34/78 in my Stang and it's been working perfect.

Not happy to hear the Optimas have trouble.

I have Autozone's in everything around here, all 6 vehicles, and they seem to work as good as anything I have ever used.

I was thinking of putting an Optima Yellow in the 82 for the bottle heater and electric fan though.

i have a red top, and it didnt really help any as far as the charging with the stock alt and underdrives goes, but it definately does a good job, and i think itll last a real long time. looks cool too being red and all...hell people spend a ton on dress up things and why get an ugly battery, ya know!? they make cool hold downs for them too

used to have a grey one that said INTERSTATE on top...yuck

Yep, it is named something like that, it might even be the previous name they called stuff. Its been in there a long time, sits in the Winter time and always works, cant complain for an Autozone Product!
