My battery finally quit, and it's time to upgrade. I figured why not get an Optima, but they only make certain series batteries. What Optima series works with our cars?

I had the red top in my 99 for a year no problems, car was wrecked, so I
keep the red top in the garage for a year and a half. When I went to
replace my stock battery in my 04 about 1 month ago I had the red top
charged but it wouldnt hold the charge. Since it was still in warrenty
they sold me a 6 year Duralast for $10. So Im just sticking with regular
Batteries for now, I kind of feel the Optimas may be overratted.

I'm not sure what some other guys are getting but their's are too small... This one is the match for a Mustang.

i dont recommend optima... ive ran four of them before in cars and trucks... they perform fine.

but if u ever let the battery die(ie leavinginterior lights on)... it may not take a charge ever again

3 of my batteries were subjected to drain... they never took a charge again... one of which was 1 month old

my optima died after a year and a half. it was the WORST battery i have ever used. once it died it would never hold a charge again. i replaced it with a regular batt and it is 100% better.

save your money. buy a regular batt and a relocation kit

agm batteries ftl! dont do it they arent worth it at all. regular led acid is the way to go.

Optima batteries do not specifically fit Mustangs (they don't have a specific part # for Mustang when you look in their catalog) but they include brackets to make it work so it can fit in the tray. I took the brackets and sealed the battery in place. Since I run 3 amplifiers and a subwoofer, I use the Optima Yellow Top. The Yellow Top is mainly for "deep cycling" and was specifically made for high-powered audio systems and other gadgets (like hydraulics) in the car.

"Deep Cycling" means that the battery can be constantly charged and discharged with no problems whatsoever. A red top Optima would die out under these conditions.

i have had to warranty 2 optimas out. i either get the top of the line autozone or go to the dealer and get an oem one. had the best luck with those 2.

I don't quite understand why some people have problems with Optima batteries. I have had a red top and now a yellow top and never had an issue and it was powerful enough to power my 3 amplifier system (along with a sub) for more than 3 hours at loud arse volumes WITHOUT the engine being on!

I was at a club and had my convertible top down with the tones playing out of my speakers without any engine power whatsoever.

Though to be honest, I don't really see the need for anyone to have an Optima battery unless they were running some pretty nice electronics inside the car.

Walmart battery here. I just can't justify the price for Optimas when the Wally World ones serve my cars just fine.

I don't need a crazy amount of cold cranking amps now that I live down south. If I was still up north, I would probably get a battery with more CCAs though.


:edit: And I have a 1000+ watt RMS Kicker audio system in my Stang, and a system with an amp and 2 10" Bazookas in my Tour. No probs here.

I've heard so many bad things about Optima batteries. I'd just stick with Motorcraft.

Most batteries work just fine with any audio system except for the German made Geiger Mustang which uses 5 Optima yellow tops to power its 10,000 watt audio system, and that's not its max power rating (which I hate amp companies for advertising them since the amp never or hardly reaches that number).

I just like how mines is red......LOL!!

Mine works fine but I don't have an high amp audio setup. The first one crapped out but it was still under warranty so I just brought it in and they handed me another.
I'm going to be relocating my battery inside the passenger compartment under the rear passenger side seats so I can take advantage of the polar moment of inertia by locating the poundage their.

I am on my 4th Optima.
In 3 years. Only reason I keep getting them is because they are free with the warranty.
Don't waste your money!!!!!
